Beacon High School Essay

When I sat down to write this essay I was trying to think of some big experience that had changed my life. However as I kept thinking and thinking about this I got a much bigger idea. I figured out that a lot of small things over time can add up to create a big experience in your life. So for me this happened with one of the most inspirational people in my life so far my Social Studies teacher, Ms. Skinner.
When you first meet her you might think she is tough but the reason she is so tough on you is because she wants so much for you. She was such an inspiration to me because she loves being a teacher and she also loves watching kids grow. I have also learned that she is someone who is proud of your mistakes and she is even prouder of what you learn from them and who you become from your mistakes. She has been a person that has helped me in a lot of ways through the toughest of times in school and out of school. For example, when I found a

Skinner was doing African dance in after school. At the beginning I wasn't sure if I was really that interested in it or even any good at it but I knew I wanted to try something different. Even though it was hard Ms. Skinner kept showing us the moves and always made it fun and at the end I was participating in a lot of shows and had an amazing experience.
All of these little interactions with Ms. Skinner had a way of changing me and shaping what middle school was for me. It was my big experience. Rather than feeling nervous and like I would not fit in, I felt confident and independent. Since I felt this way I did more things such as try out for peer leader, participate in shows and help out other students in tutoring.
Overall the experience of school has been created by all of the little involvements from everybody but especially Ms. Skinner. Through these experiences middle school ended up being more than just a place I went but a place where I changed and

I have had multiple influential people in my life, but I'm not going to say my parents or a great teacher, but rather someone closer to my age. Andrew Calton, a good friend and great influence. Andrew helped me “get back on my feet” when I was scared to kayak. I would stay on the lake and not go on rivers because I had no confidence in myself. Late at night he and Jack White, another good friend, came to my cabin at camp and told me there was a spot on a trip and he wanted me to go. I went on the trip and the fact that they wanted me to go boosted my confidence. We went on harder rivers I had never been on and I did not swim, or bail out of by boat once.…

All of the other kids came in, introducing ourselves to the teacher and talking about our summer. The room was small, but was enough for her to teach. The first day of school began and ended with a treat she brought for us. Since the start, I knew that I would get along with her just fine…

Thinking back to the thirteen years I spent in grade school preparing myself for college its hard to pick out one teacher than I would consider “my best teacher.” There are always teachers that stand out for some reason or another, whether it maybe because of their personality, field trips they go on, or all the holiday party fun had in their class. However, the teacher that that I chose deserving of the “My Best Teacher” award I still remember because of the care she showed to each of her students through her personality, the field trips she took us on, and the all the fun had in her class. This teacher is my first grade teacher, Mrs. Hunter.…

It was my father trying to wake me, “Wake up, Jimmy, wake up!” “Not yet, Dad. Just a few more minutes, please!” I murmured! And he went, “It’s Sunday, Jimmy, don’t you want to go hunting? Your cousins are already here! Wake up!” The mention of hunting worked like magic! “Yes, of course, Dad! How could I sleep, any more?” I jumped out of my bed! I can do anything for hunting! My biggest hobby, my passion.…
