Revenge And Vengeance In Shakespeare's Hamlet
Revenge is an emotion, a feeling that virtually everyone has felt, and one that everyone has acted upon. There are two trains of thought on revenge; one in the Bible, where there are instructions “to ‘give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,’” etc. and Martin Luther King Jr.’s response to it, “the old law of ‘an eye for an eye’ leaves everyone blind” (Price). Revenge can leave a person or group of persons dwelling on the topic of what caused the revenge. It can incur unhappiness and leave it there. Different people cope with vengeful feelings in different ways. There are avengers, those who seek revenge and are motivated by power. In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Hamlet looks to exact revenge on the King, his uncle, who supposedly murdered …show more content…
They have been an up-and-down franchise, where they have periods of triumph and periods of disappointment. The Warriors have won a total of four championships (two in the Golden State era). Recently, they have been unstoppable, accomplishing a record 73-win season last season after a victory in the Finals the previous year. They have one of the best players and coaches in the game right now and have been on a tear, and were destined for a second straight title. After reaching the Finals again, they took a commanding 3-1 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their traumatic experience came in the form of a blowing that lead and losing in devastating fashion, in Game 7. Immediately following the game, the star player Stephen Curry said that the final sequence of the game, , the game itself, and the series “will haunt me for a while” (Dubow).
Ever since the fateful game, they have been mocked by the media and other sports franchises as well. This mockery led to pent up frustration throughout the off-season. They brought in one of the other best players in the league, and now have been branded as villains. They are not well-liked outside of the Bay Area and are hated by a select few. The Warriors are now on a mission to reclaim the title they once held. They are obsessed with the embarrassment, and are looking to overturn it with another miraculous season.
