Company Background
Topshop is a British clothes retailer with stores in over 20 countries and online operations in some of its markets. Topshop's sales primarily come from women's clothing and fashion accessories. It is part of the Arcadia Group, which owns a number of other retail outlets including Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge.
The chain was founded in 1964 as Peter Robinson's Top Shop, a young-persons' fashion brand within the Sheffield branch of the Peter Robinson Ltd ladies fashion store chain (former department store chain). The first stand-alone Topshop store was opened in 1974. In 1978, Topman was created as a spin-off brand to cater for male customers and is now run as a separate chain, although some stores are co-located
Product
Topshop product are basically following the current trend, for example , 'New Age Constalation', 'Swedish Summer' and 'Snake Valley'. In May 2007 Kate Moss designed her first collection exclusively for Topshop. It was launched across the UK in the chain's 225 stores. The collection of fifty designs included clothes, bags, shoes and belts, where prices range from £12 for a vest top to £150 for a cropped leather jacket. Clothes in the collection included skinny jeans, one-shoulder minidresses and T-shirts with the letter K woven into the design. And in July 2007 British artist Stella Vine creating a limited edition fashion range inspired by her artworks. These included T-shirts, vest tops, and T-shirt dresses, the labels designed in pink glitter. The Guardian commented that "the fact that the range of T-shirts she has recently designed for Top Shop - emblazoned with slogans like Breaks Up With Her Boyfriend - are flying out, speaks volumes for her public support."
Price
Topshop price are reasonable for middle class until upper class people the price range from 80 – 400 RM. They usually use market skimming pricing for the strategies price. For example they put the original price at the new season for the product
