Restricting Dress Codes In High School
I think that there should be a dress code but it should not be too strict. There are many different reasons why dress code is needed but it is not needed to the point where uniforms are issued. The dress code should be more strict the higher your grade level. Especially for high schoolers since they are transitioning from students to

I am rarely ever the one to post, especially about my issues, but I am speaking for many. While the discussion and arguments about school dress code are going on so isn’t downgrading, stereotyping, and bullying. Many comments have been made by people who are stereotyping others for instance cheerleaders. We are being stereotyped as preppy, snobby, slutty, “the populars”, and the list goes on. We are being used in examples like “The people who wear intentional holey jeans and revealing clothing are “the populars” and cheerleaders.” And “The cheerleaders wear skirts hiked up their butts and push their boobs up to the sky, but I got in trouble for wearing the clothes I did, this is favoritism.” This being all untrue is stereotyping, downgrading…

I say there shouldn’t be dress code for Magnet Schools. If it is middle schools then yes, but not in high school. As it is some magnet middle/high schools you have to apply to get into. If you don't apply you can’t go. I feel like high school’s shouldn’t have to get a dress code because what if you can't afford to buy buy uniforms or collar shirts. That goes for guys and girls because what if you can't afford more than one uniform or skirts for the girls and some collar shirts. It may prepare you for a job to look well presented but not all kids could afford the clothes. The school may look well presented but I feel if they wanted to dress code they should support with the uniforms. So there shouldn't be a dress code but there should be a…

School dress codes protect students and staff members from presenting themselves in an improper manner. Without a clear and concise dress code, students would test the waters and would wear inappropriate clothing to a place of learning. Sexual assault can happen to anyone regardless of what they wear however if students dress modest they will have a better chance of not getting assaulted. The school has to emplace rules and restrictions so students are able to go to school without a worry of being looked at in an inappropriate way. The way someone presents themselves is very important as when you meet someone you judge the person by how they look. It is understandable to see that the rules set for the school district are strict. School is…

Thousands and thousands of students get dressed coded in a years or you could even say millions of students get dressed coded a year, in your opinion do you think their should be dress code at your school? Many people think their should be dress code at their school because students should be dressing like their age. Because if they wear shorts that are really short that's not so good because they should be dressing appropriate to school. They can wear shorts that are why too short out in public and at…

    Strict School Dress Codes

I believe that everyone living in the United States has had their privacy invaded or freedom taken from them more than once, whether intentionally or accidentally, but it has been a greater issue still to the female population in certain cases, such as those who have been forced to submit to the unjust rules of school dress codes across the nation. Strict dress codes constrict any form of creativity for students to express themselves or reflect who they are through their garments. In one case in Woodford County, Kentucky a mother had to be pulled out of her job to go to the school and find that her daughter was in trouble for showing her collarbones.…

Others might say that dress codes are put in place for a reason and to promote professional work ethic including the “no revealing clothes” policy. This kind of view can be seen a lot in older viewpoints as an article from 2005 about the dress code policies in school states “Most school dress codes seek to bar only the most problematic images and words, but some schools try a total ban on images and words on any article of clothing. As it turns out, the stricter a dress code, the better its chances of survival. Claims of discrimination against a viewpoint or group by the school are much more difficult to make in such cases.” (Robson) which is arguably incredibly incorrect as a comprehensive and less restrictive dress code would allow people to focus on their school work and less about whether their clothes are dress code are…

    Dress Code in Schools

As a girl, I think the dress code is pretty fair. I really don't believe we want to wear short shorts and mini skirts and spaghetti straps, I think we just want to just look impressive. I think it's perfectly fine for us to wear t-shirts and jeans, because we don't need to wear holey jeans and low shirts. It's not much of a problem for guys, they don't barely even care what they wear. But on the other hand, girls care much more about their appearance. I think the dress code is a bit unfair to high schoolers, because they are able to wear more of what they want in their older age, but in middle school, I think it's fine. I mean, we don't want all the little 10 and 11 year old kids looking up to 13 year olds with skimpy clothing, it's just a bad role model for them. But I kind of don't understand what the whole spaghetti strap thing is about.…

I do not think it is right to take away a student’s self expression and that they should be allowed to wear what they want to a certain extent. For example at my school we are required to wear a collared shirt and either khaki or black pants with a belt, this kind of dress code and other stricter one are the kinds I think should not be allowed because it gives little to no room for the student to personalize their outfit to their own liking.…

From the day you are born you are assigned a sex, either male or female. With this assigned sex comes a predisposed set of rules and expectations that the individual gets almost no control over. For most people if you are assigned the sex of female at birth you tend to follow the predisposed rules of the female gender that has been dictated to you (same with most males and the male gender). For those people their lives are easy and “natural” because they fall into the roles society has already laid out for them. What if you don’t fall perfectly into this role? Gender may be influenced as soon as one is born but it is not assigned like sex is, and therefore it is often fluid. People find where they fall on this “gender spectrum” as they age.…
