Respect
Respect

I believe that respect for one other is a big social issue we face today in our generation.
We see this problem in teens, in so many places. For example, in school there is a lack of respect for students from other fellow students. At home there is a lack of respect from the children to their parents. There is also a lack of respect from young adults to most authoritative figures.
People in school today never listen to the teachers. They talk when the teacher is talking, and totally disrespect the teacher. These students should treat the teacher with respect. Respect is showing high regard for one’s self, other people, and other people's property. In order to be respectful a person must first respect himself.
The main reason why people need self-respect is that without it, they will be unhappy and not take care of themselves. Without self-respect, many people will fail to realize that what they want and need in life does actually matter, and because of this, they will go through life being miserable. Also another important reason of self-respect is that you need to respect yourself before anyone else will respect you. If someone has so little self-respect and self-esteem that they are unable to stand up for themselves, no one is going to respect them.
A person should not only respect himself, but also other people. A person should give positive remarks to their friends. They should not put them down, by saying negative things about them. If the person respects his friend, then they think highly of them, and won’t put them down. Also to show respect to people one should listen to what others have to say. Lots of times when people speak to others, other people will talk to someone else, or just tune the speaker out. This does not show respect to the speaker. They should be quite and listen to the person speaking.
I see respect as a universal characteristic. To me respect is how someone else treats me as a person, whether they agree with me in a certain

From past experiences I have learned the real meaning of respect. This word is more powerful than one can imagine. With respect comes unselfishness. When people respect others, they are treated equally. My mother and father always told me to be tactful in the way I treated others, so I would also be respected. It has worked in the past and will always hold true in the future. If someone respects another with proper judgment, people feel good inside which gives them a sense of integrity. When I give respect and witness how it makes others feel, I feel like more of a person. I feel proud. Honored.…

A great example of treating people with respect is bullying. Bullying happens all the time at all times of the day. People bully people in school, on the internet, and even at home. Sometimes the bully has the motive to hurt people and break someone else down because they are hurting on the inside themselves. The way they express themselves is the wrong way to do it, but it happens. I remember in school, they always said that a bully becomes a bully when they, themselves had been bullied. It is a serious matter these days because people hurt themselves for being bullied. That goes back to my point where I said that it could impact someone life.…

You have to respect yourself before you can respect anyone else. As a student here at Royal High School I have seen many students that are very disrespectful to adults; they do not understand the meaning of character, if they did, they would do things differently. If one of my friends ever got out of line with an adult, I would tell them that their behavior is unacceptable, if I allowed my friend to act that way and I did not say anything, then I would be upholding them in their…

Respect; a topic people tend to have many different opinions on in terms of its definition. Some people live with the Idea that, respect is as respect does. Why can’t respect be given by everyone from the beginning? In sports it is a motive to gain the respect of one’s opponent but in real life, people often live by that same motto. Is this wrong? Well the question first has to be asked, what really is respect? Every person admires the act of being respected but not everyone knows how to give it. Some people take incorrect measures such as intimidation factors to gain respect. Are these people really respected? Is the power of intimidation the same power that gains respect? By now it’s easy to understand that respect can be viewed in a number…

Emigrating here from a different country you would think that respect is definitely an aspect that remains the same throughout the whole world, but not necessarily so. Respect in the United States is virtually nonexistent, particularly the respect that children have towards their parents. That’s something I really can’t wrap my head around, coming from a southeast Asian country. Respect is something that us foreign kids are taught at a very young age, unlike here. Here it seems like even seniors in high school don’t know a single thing about respect whatsoever.…

When people interpret respect differently, it can cause disagreements. While you could both be right, you are fighting over a concept. There can be no victor. Children in classrooms are shoved into cramped boxes of respect, and forced to obey to the confines of society. Often times, adults are very disrespectful of the children they are teaching respect to.…

There’s one thing people don’t realize what they need to bring to college: respect. I know at first it doesn’t seem to be a big deal, but in the big picture it really is. My definition of respect that it is the realization of how special and unique a person, thing, or quality is.
