Research Paper On Madeleine
Madeleine. It’s the name I have been called my entire life. It’s the only one I’ve ever known, unless my parents are angry at me, then it’s “Madeleine Louise.”
My name, Madeleine, is the French version of Magdalene (Magdala) and means “tower” in Hebrew. It has mainly been used since the 19th century. It also means high “tower” or elevated, great or magnificent. I really love my name; it makes me feel important. One of the main reasons my parents picked this name because they wanted great and magnificent things for me in my life.
My parents wanted to name me Madison, but it was already taken by my cousin. Our moms were competing to see who had a daughter first and they did. My parents researched names and looked through baby books after that and when they came across the name Madeleine, which is the French version of Magdala, they

A few people, including my parents, shorten it even more to Mad which really annoys me. Something that really bothers me is when people misspell my name by using the English version which is Madeline. Whenever I go to a gift shop and see personalized items like pens, stationery, mugs, license plates, and wallets, the names are always spelled the English way. People also misspell and mispronounce my last name, Moudy, too. My mom, who is an elementary school teacher, gets frustrated because it should be pronounced like the word cloud and is a first grade reading skill.
Since I am Catholic, I really love my name because it is the same name as my favorite saint, St. Madeleine Sophie Barat. She was the patron saint of my old school Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, my school of 10 years. It’s a really great school. I loved all my teachers, and I had made some really great friends there as well.
Madeleine was derived from the name Saint Mary Magdalene. She saw Jesus die on the cross and was the first person Jesus appeared to after his

weather was never over 85° and milk was more expensive then gas. My whole name is Helen Lonsdale Torrey but I always just liked Lonnie. My name is from a tradition in our family that has been in practice since the 1820s. The first daughter of the first daughter is named after the grandmothers middle name and that daughters middle name was the maiden name of the grandmother. Every generation the name Helen is exchanged for Hetty of the first born daughter. There is a silver cup with all of the names and dates of birth of those first born daughters; I am on that cup to be remembered forever.…

Jackson Dean - the first thing I ever learned about myself, something that has always been with me and will never change. Growing up with this name was very typical, it wasn’t like my name was something unheard of, of crazily odd, it was just normal. Other kids complained about their names and how they didn’t like them or how they sounded weird, but I never had that problem. To me, Jackson Dean is just a name passed down from previous generations, I never knew the true meaning of it, or why my parents picked it. Although, my parents did not choose my name because if it’s definition, or background, it is still very interesting to find out the true meaning.…

After we are born, we receive our own names. Names are chosen not by themselves, but by their family member’s. That is the first gift the baby owns and of course, it is free, but not everybody takes the free gift if they don't like it. Just like me and the girl I had read about in the article, “My Name," by Sandra Cisneros. We both don’t like our names because our names are not English names; indeed, it’s the different culture name.…

One of the best days of my life, was when I was seven years old and I walk through the front door and notice a small brown little puppy with big droopy ears sound asleep in a little basket.
