The Lernaean Hydra/ Hydra for short or Λερναῖα Ὕδρα, Lernaîa Hýdra in Roman is a Greek Monster with many heads. The hydra has parents who happen to be Typhon and Echidna. Typhon and Echidna were also the parents of many other monsters. The Hydra lived in a swamp near Lerna in the land of Argos. It had 2 heads at the start but now around 50-100. The reason for this is when it is decapitated of a head, 2 more grow back as a result of it gaining more and more heads, It has one head in the center which can not die at all.

It is described as a Giant water snake that was able to go onto land which meant it had legs. It attacked humans and creature if bothered by them. It can grow back many heads due to its quick regenerative ability.

The original sighting of the Chupacabra was described as being a reptilian skinned beast that hops around on its hind legs, similar to a kangaroo, with large red eyes, spikes down its spine, and ferocious fangs (Hill, 2015, p. 2). Michael Negron, a student from Puerto Rico, described his encounter with the creature: “I was looking off the balcony one night, and I saw it step out of a bright light in the back yard. It was three or four feet tall, with skin like that of a dinosaur, it had bright eyes the size of hens eggs, long fangs and multicolored spikes down its head and back.” Another description of the beast, which is more recent, is one with a more canine appearance with, again, large fangs, spikes down its spine, large claws, and lacking the hair or fur of a typical dog (Team Chupa, 2015, p.…

During “Snake Week,” we read many stories that talked about different snakes. Such snakes are the rattlesnakes and the cobra. We read, “A Running Brook of Horror” by Daniel Mannix, “How to Recognize Venomous Snakes in North America,” which was a manual and, “Rattlesnake Hunt,” by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. From these stories, I was impressed by all of the research found about the rattlesnake and the cobra. This is some of the interesting facts I found out about these snakes.…

    Hydra

After slaying the Nemean lion, Eurystheus sent Heracles to slay the Hydra, which Hera had raised just to slay Heracles. Upon reaching the swamp near Lake Lerna, where the Hydra dwelt, Heracles covered his mouth and nose with a cloth to protect himself from the poisonous fumes. He fired flaming arrows into the Hydra's lair, the spring of Amymone, a deep cave that it only came out of to terrorize neighboring villages.[4] He then confronted the Hydra, wielding a harvesting sickle (according to some early vase-paintings), a sword or his famed club. Ruck and Staples (1994: 170) have pointed out that the chthonic creature's reaction was botanical: upon cutting off each of its heads he found that two grew back, an expression of the hopelessness of such a struggle for any but the hero. The weakness of the Hydra was that it was invulnerable only if it retained at least one head.…

    Lernean Hydra Short Story

I was only 5 years old, and my old hometown was certainly much smaller, holding about two hundred people at the most. Forests blanketed the world as far as my little blue eyes could see, and in them was a wonder that had yet to be thirsted. I roamed into the forests everyday, hoping to find what secrets the universe was hiding from me. For a while, the coolest things I found were just some mashed up plants and a squirrel or two. One day however, I wandered farther out than usual, and found a lake. It shimmered in the sunlight that scarcely made it through the canopy of this colossal jungle of a place. A river broke through the lake, coming from and leading to somewhere that had yet to be explored. But in the middle of the lake, I saw a nine headed snake, scales casing most of the body of the animal that I now know as a Lernean Hydra. Each tooth was as sharp as a medieval sword, and had eyes that seemed gargantuan compared to one of my hands. Then, with those yellow tinted eyes, it glanced over towards me. Needless to say, I ran as far as my little legs to carry me all the way back home. Of course, nobody believed that there was a Lernean Hydra practically living next door and that a five year old was the only one to notice. Without the guts needed to go back into that forest, I had no way to prove myself right. Everyone I told just…
