Kylie Ann Minogue is an iconic pop star that over the course of her career has captured the hearts of many. Young Kylie had no interest in acting or singing but her sister’s outgoing personality and success in acting quickly changed her mind. Her acting career began at the age of 11. Kylie never knew what that first acting job would lead to. After overcoming her fear of performing on a stage she was well on her way of earning the name Princess of Pop. She began acting as a teen and had various roles in Australian soap operas, such as “Skyways” and “The Sullivan’s”. She is best known for her role as Charlene in the soap opera “Neighbors”. The wedding scene of Charlene and Scott from “Neighbors” was known as the wedding of the year in Australia. She was the youngest performer to win the Silver Logie Award for the most popular actress in Australia. Her role in “Neighbors” is where her singing career began when she performed at a benefit concert and was noticed by a recording studio. Her singing career took off regardless of how she felt the world thought about her. “In the early days I don’t think I was taken seriously”, she has said. “People think I’m a gimmick”. She, however, became known as the “Princess of Pop”, compared with the likes of Madonna, the “Queen of Pop”. She has won “Best International Female Solo Artist” and “Best International Album” at the Brit Awards. In 2002, Kylie was named the “Biggest Selling Australian Artist” of all time, with over 65 million albums sold worldwide.
