There are many artists that sing at this day and age, but artists are normally under a genre of music to differentiate them from other music styles. Here are a few genres of the music industry: * Rock- the beetles, Bob Dylan, Linkin park

* Pop- Michael Jackson, Madonna, usher, Mariah Carey
* Hip hop- Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Dr Dre, 50cent
* Inspirational (gospel)- Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp, Mary Mary

The beetles
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. They became the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed act in the history of popular music.[1] The group's best-known lineup consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Rooted in skiffle and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later utilized several genres, ranging from pop ballads to psychedelic rock, often incorporating classical and other elements in innovative ways. In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania", but as their songwriting grew in sophistication, they came to be perceived by many fans and cultural observers as an embodiment of the ideals shared by the era's sociocultural revolutions.

Michael Jackson
Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, singer-lyricist, lyricist, entertainer, actor, businessman and philanthropist. Often referred to as the "King of Pop", or by his initials MJ, Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. His contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with a much-publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades.
