Research Paper on Football

Most people in Germany enjoy watching football on television or live in the stadium. Football is not only sport number one, but also the number one topic of conversation. Although it is so popular, many people, fans or not fans, discuss whether the football players are good value or not. So, is it fair that they earn so much more than others?

Of course stars like Ronaldo, Zidane or Beckham, but also all the other professional football players have a high training intensity with a minimum of two trainings per day and additional duties like for example meetings with sponsors or fan clubs. Many of them are engaged in social organisations and do a lot for poor and disabled people. They do a lot for the money they get.

On the basis of the high number of trainings and at least one game per week during the season means a high strain for the players. They get injured " often seriously " because of this high strain and the fact that their body is their capital. They have to give everything for the money, even their health.

These are arguments why professional football players are good value. The training intensitiy, the strain, the injuries that result from the strain and of course the age lead to the realization that the players are not able to do their sport for such a long time. They need the money because they have to built reserves for their later life.

The players deserve the money they get, for the clubs make huge profits with the player. Real Madrid for example expands - or at least wants to in the market of merchandising products in Asia because of the engagement of David Beckham. Madrid had to pay тВм 35 million, but experts say, that only the sell of the jersey with Beckham's number brings at least тВм 50 million back to Madrid. So the club has great economic advantages.

In the case of the most famous players, who are always in the spotlight, it is fair that they earn so much. They really have no private life because

To achieve this we should employ taxes, but the money made off this should go to charity, also we should lower salary caps, thus we restrict the amounts teams can spend on their players. Professional athletes sign huge contracts up to $20 million dollars per season, but it does not quite mean that they are overpaid. These athletes play sports for professional teams which is not that easy to get into. There is only a .03 percent chance for a college basketball player to make it into the NBA, which the chances seem nearly impossible. These athletes also have to work hard to stay in shape all year round, because their jobs depend on it. They also risk a chance of injury every time they step out onto a court, a field, or a stadium, etc. It’s also determined that NFL players lives are cut short by two or three years for each season they play. Not to mention the reason why their salaries are so high, are because of the fans who willingly support them. Being an athlete also means always being the public’s eye, so they must always maintain a clean image. These athletes are justly compensated for their jobs due to the challenge to get in, stay in, maintain their image, and the risks behind being an athlete. (Resnick)…

Each sport is different in how they pay their athletes, and the difference in salaries from one player to another can be in the tens of millions of dollars. I think professional athletes received very much money. The management pays to them overpaid not because of their effort. I think the management spends lots of money to professional athletes to raise club’s rating, and attract the advertisers, because all clubs depends on advertisers and sponsors as income. If the clubs get a lot of champions they will have a lot of fans. For example, NBA champion a lot of fans over the world watch the NBA champion. Every time you watch a match you will notes a lot of advertisers during the match. Imagine with me every match how much the income for each team from the advertisers and fans tickets. Some company have contract with famous players like Cristiano Ronaldo has contract with Gillette Shave. The advertiser pays to some players and clubs a lot of money. For these reasons I have mentioned here, I think professional athletes receive too much money.…
