Report of the Dalaman Airport Trip
The main purpose of the trip was to see and to get information about the information processing systems which are used at the Dalaman Airport. The international terminal of airport is operated by ATM Airport Construction and Operation Inc. which is serving under the name of YDA Group. During our visit we got the chance to see a lot of systems applied in airports. First of all we passed through the door for the entrance of the airport fulfilled by x-ray devices for the security of the airport. After the security check we went to the auditorium for the orientation presentation. Then we went to check-in points which are at the 0 point in the international terminal. Then we received information about the BHS (Baggage Handling System), BRS (Baggage Reconciliation System) and CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment). We learned how FIDS (Flight Information System) works at the area where the check-in process is done. After informing, we passed this visa and passport control points. We learned that too, after the x-ray device which is just before passport control point is beginning for to out of the country. We had also short information about, emergency systems, power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies, fire-extinguishing systems, card access systems, camera security systems and fuel transfer systems. We have learnt that the IT systems were mostly based on Microsoft and also some of them were based on Linux. PHP and Mysql is used for databasing. They have told they can do transactions between central database and source from elsewhere. They save the data with using MS Office Excel, because it is easy to use. While we are walking around server rooms, we had seen that each system has a backed up. Because if there is a systematic problem, that must be solved as soon as possible otherwise it would dramatically cost lots of money. There were 2 main server rooms and 2 backed up server rooms at the terminal we travelled. They have been told that is wrong to build this
