How does the Renaissance influence today’s society? The Renaissance was significant on the development of society as we know it today and the impact carried with it was immense. The Renaissance not only influenced the todays art and thought but also its innovations put a huge mark in modern-day society. Within the duration of the Renaissance several key advancements took place in all three of these areas and promulgated them along with it being a huge part in the growth of Europe and the rest of the world. First and foremost, the impact of the Renaissance’s on todays thought is quite monumental, in many ways such as religion. A lot of changes went on in religion during the Renaissance such as the Reformation, where many people protested agains the Roman Catholic Church which lead to the Protestant Reformation and other Religions such as Lutheranism, Calvinism, and others. The change in the Renaissance religion lead us to many different religions and the many branches of Catholicism. The thought of the profound hell and heaven were even impacted by the master piece of the Divine Comedy written in the vernacular by Dante and his thoughts on a trip through hell, purgatory, heaven and the many consequences there are in hell. He describes that there is a certain consequence for every sin such as if you have committed suicide you are transformed into thorny trees that are ripped apart by Harpies over and over for the rest of eternity. Nowadays many people see this version or off versions of his “hell”, which has mad many people ten times more terrified of it. His version of heaven describes of the nine spheres of heaven and they are the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Fixed stars, the Primum Mobile. Many of these levels of heaven are based on peace and learning such as the Sun being the level of wisdom. Some people today see heaven as a peaceful place that is their paradise, much of this compares to Dante’s writing.
