Religion Reflection
Religion Reflection Paper
Why do you think religion is important to people? I think religion is important to people because its always there for people whenever they need it. If people ever feel depressed or there are headed down the wrong road they pray and vent their feelings without having anyone to judge them. They feel comfort because God is always there watching over them. They know God is always listening and will do anything he can.

Does society make it difficult to be faithful to our religion sometimes? Yes society does make it difficult to be faithful because there are certain temptations that are hard to resist like; sex before marriage, drugs and alcohol, and people give in because of the world we live in today. Also when people who follow different religions give their opinions and beliefs its hard to tell what's the truth and what isn't. Also society makes it difficult because they pressure people to follow a certain religion and try to tell them what they can and can't believe in.

When in your life do you usually find yourself turning towards God and why? In my life I usually find myself turning towards God when I'm going through a tough time. When I'm feeling sad or mad or lonely I pray to God and I always end up feeling better because I know he's listening and he will always be there for me when I need him too. When my parents got divorced I went through a tough time for years and still am but God is always there for me to listen to what I have to say.

“In sum, the unchallenged testimony of acknowledged experts in education and religious history, almost 300 years of consistent practice, and strong evidence of a sustained faith pervading and regulating respondents' entire mode of life support the claim that enforcement of the State's requirement of compulsory formal education after the eighth grade would gravely endanger if not destroy the free exercise of respondents' religious beliefs.”…

From the beginning of the novel to the very last page, religion seems to be an anchor that keeps everyone grounded. Whenever everyone hits a rough patch or are faced with obstacles that seems out of reach, religion becomes the biggest guidance and support they have. Everyone within the novel is religiously attending church and I strongly believe it’s the only place of outlet for them, whether it’s for difficult times or happy moments. Expression through worship establishes a sense of morality as everyone maintains religion as a guideline for life. It’s amazing how everyone seems to sin like no other but still, on a Sunday morning they’re in their finest dresses and suits, singing, dancing, and praising the lord. I feel the reason everyone is so devoted is because they are aware of their wrong doings but instead of asking for forgiveness, they’re turning to religion to reinforce values and morals to prevent them from committing the same sins in the future. Although it seems to be by choice to commit the sins which occurs regardless, religion seems to be used as a concealment of the sins that one has committed. The hopes or thoughts of attending church might give a gratifying feeling as one hopes that they will be forgiven for their sins even if the extent of the sin is far beyond being forgiven. With that being said, I also thing religion is prevalent within the novel because everyone attending church brings everyone…

Religion has a big impact on every human especially with the way they think and the way they see life. Religion all depends on the person. Some people depend on their religion a lot more than others. Some people believe religion is the answer to all their suffering. In the Eastern State Penitentiary, religion had a significant impact on prisoners. It helped Prisoners find their true hearts and to help strengthen prisoners personal connection with god. Religion helped these prisoners produce religious knowledge and insight into their personal lives. The purpose of religion in the penitentiary was to make prisoners truly regret there wrongful actions and to ask god to forgive them. The prison cell was designed in a way that the only light coming into the cell was provided by god. This sent a message to the prisoners that all miracles and blessings come from…

It is of great amazement that there are over seven-thousand catholic schools in America. Catholic education dates back to as far as the year 1606. By the latter 1600's, English colonists had set up their own, publicly supported schools. Since all the colonies were overwhelmingly Protestant, the rudimentary education often had a heavily fundamentalist Protestant population. During the same period, Catholic education progressed in non-British America: In New Orleans, the Franciscans opened a school for boys in 1718. The Ursulines opened one for girls in 1727.…

The Catholic Churych teaches that proper education and formation of every person should be a first priority of a society. Unfortunately, the way that education is provided in the U.S. today results in poorest children of the country pretty consistently receiving an education substantially worse to that which is available to those of our middle and upper classes. American funding for public primary and secondary schools is largely based off of property taxes collected from the area which results of course in less money available per student in poor school districts. The substandard funding received in poor school districts leaves poor children with schooling grounds that frankly promote failure. There is an undeniable disparity in high school graduation rates, and test scores between the general student population and those living beneath the poverty line. The poor education received by poor children in America is resulting in communities as a whole remaining in poverty over the course generations. The fact that the injustice of such poor opportunities being provided to these children says a lot about our society and none of it is good. The current system of providing children with free and open schools throughout the United States needs to be drastically changed insofar as eliminating the difference in opportunity provided for children of different economic classes.…
