Relationships are a central pillar of social work practice. However sometimes the relationship can be valued too highly in modern social work. Social workers use relationships as a tool to help guide the client through whatever is their reason for visiting the social worker. However occasionally the boundaries between professional and personal relationships can be blurred, by either being too friendly or being too distant. This essay will look at the opinions of several pieces of work, on the subject of relationship based practice and their effect on both the client and the social
