Identify at least two major historical turning points in the period under discussion. One of the major historical turning points in this period is the deregulation. The deregulation consisted of the government control of several industries. The deregulation also consisted of air pollution and motor vehicles, actions that allowed corporations to continue polluting and delayed installing air bags in cars for several years. The second major historical turning point was the collapse of the Soviet Union. The collapse of the Soviet Union took place in December of 1991. The Soviet Union disintegrated into fifteen separated countries. Analyze the impact of the two or more major historical turning points selected on America’s current society, economy, politics, and culture. With deregulation it allowed the different businesses to make their own decisions and not have to worry about being monitored by the government and that they could make wise decisions for their company. The economic aspect of the deregulation was very well desired because they had the ability to either say yes or no for the business and could decide to either hire or not. By the time Bill Clinton became president the economy had started falling down. Bill Clinton put jobs in place and allowed the businesses to start seeing things in the red. Analyzing the impact of the Soviet Union it gave American’s a sense of complacency. The U.S. cut defense spending and on intelligence and fell under the false belief that the world peace was at hand. The United States profited from the fall of the Soviet Union due to their ability to expand into areas that formerly were controlled by the former Soviet Union.
