Reflective Report

Introduction

After finishing the presentation and looking back on the effort we 've made as a 4-member team, I can clearly see that we had a lot of strengths but also a lot of weaknesses as a team. The result of what we have achieved is that our presentation was one of the best.

My experience at the University of Greenwich so far

I 've been a student in University of Greenwich since October, and I can honestly say that I am more than pleased with the lessons I 've attended. The majority of the teachers are highly educated, so that gives us the opportunity to learn more things through the experience they have and as Albert Einstein said ' 'The only source of knowledge is experience ' '. I think since studying at the University of Greenwich of all my expectations have been met through the material our teachers provide us. Generally, the high standard of all the courses makes me try more and more and gives me motivation, forgetting the difficulties I face. I feel very comfortable being with my other colleagues and since I am a student of the University I became very social and the good knowledge of the English language gives me an advantage that other students don 't have.

The advantage of working as a group

Thinking back on the experience of our group exercise I can hopefully say that I met my expectations fair enough. Unfortunately, we faced a problem with the presentation so we couldn 't show some pictures of what we were describing. Working with the other 3 colleagues, taught me cooperation with other people, something that all of us will definitely meet through our ‘’working life’’. It was very beneficial to work as a team because as Ken Blanchard said ' 'None of us is as smart as all of us ' '. That means that one mind is better than one and the teamwork provides more ideas that an individual person. So, the result of our presentation came from the feedback we received from the other colleagues, who were very

1.1 Evidence-Based Management (EBM) theory uses the best available evidence for making managerial decisions. The basic problem that Karen Barton faces with Dave Palmer is that he focused only on the reports that contained mostly qualitative benefits from the programs and did not contain much quantitative benefits and accordingly made his decision of cutting the budget.…

I was recently fortuned to have been part of a group that worked as a team for our poster presentation, to achieve some goal through working among a group can often be inspiring because many members have to efficiently agree and cooperate. For my group presentation, there are many areas for improvement because we are a group of four from different background and culture, also we have language barriers but we were able to work together. We had prepared the poster together and each person providing one part of the whole presentation, we had to…

In the P5 assignment I was given a task to produce a presentation which demonstrates team working as part of a team towards achieving specific goals. In the presentation the following points were included; the benefits of team working, theories of team working and theories of leadership. Each team member in the team was given a specific role to complete which lead to the task ultimately being completed. I was given the role to find information through research about Tuckman’s four stages of team development, Aman was allocated to a role where he had to produce slides for Belbin’s theory, Boris was given the role to produce slides about John Adair and finally Ansaar had the role to provide a few slides about the benefits of team working.…

Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Although we were supposed to get together to practice for the event, we were only able to meet up once a week. In addition to having a hard time with time scheduling, we often did not have a consensus of opinion. Whenever we had a discussion, we usually ended up with no results. So it always took a long time for us to make a decision. Consequently, the performance did not turn out as well as we expected. Because of this initial failure, I thought group work was time consuming and ineffective. However, I have changed my opinion lately because of the successful results in some of my laboratory classes. In each laboratory assignment, it is nearly impossible to work by myself because there are a lot of steps and each step needs to be very precise and accurate. Therefore, a group of two or three students will work more effectively compared to an individual because they can help to remind each other and finish the assignment faster. Based on those experiences, one more time I give myself a chance to work in a group and figured out how work effectively. Finally, thank to the Small group communication class, I found out that group work can become very productive if all the members in the group cooperate and follow the principles of small group communication. In this paper, I want to talk…

since communication among the group was sub par the outcome of the presentation was not what i expected. if the group had communication with each other and not formed subgroups the outcome of our presentation would have been satisfactory. Only two members of the group ideas and input were used to write the story, and if all four members suggestions would have been used on this story the outcome of our presentation would have been greater then it was. the members of the group did not share there ideas, who knows what the outcome could have been if all members would have communicated with each other. this goes to show u if your in a group and there is lack of communication your project or what ever the group is working on out come will not be to your satisfaction.…

Through this group assignment, I really learned much. First, I realize that I should learn more about finance and accounting .when talking about the last part in presentation during discussion, I cannot participate in the debate, and even do not know what they said when comes some proper nouns. Although my major is logistics, it is good for me to learn more about other subject knowledge such as finance and management. Second is although we had discussion many times, we were inefficient and wasted much time. We supposed to have a target or task for each discussion, and leader need to coordinate the meeting. In addition, democracy does not work every time in small group, everyone has a different idea and wants to persuade others, which is the reason that a good leader is very important for a team, so that I should start to train leadership skills. Third is that unity and cooperation are essential to a good team. Team members need to work for…

As a group we think that we have all learned to listen and manage our time effectively without having any problems with meetings and arranging them. Also it was very easy to come up with a business idea because everyone was giving at least one or two ideas on what it should be. We have also learned that as a group everyone should complete a task that they have experience in or have an idea of it is about so that we can all give one strong report at the end rather than choosing tasks based on quantity. However, we did find it difficult to have discussions because when one person gave their point of view other group members did not agree and when asked to give their point of view they responded with nothing which was very irritating to everyone. But at the end everyone managed to pull it together and complete the work in their own time.…

We also communicated with each other when we had questions. I decided to take on the role of putting our final presentation together. We agreed that the group members would have their parts of the presentation to me by Saturday the 19th so that I could have time to put it all together and work on the general format to make sure it looked cohesive. I thought it was important that everyone have time to see what will be submitted before so that if anyone was unhappy we can make changes. I think we functioned well as a team during this assignment. We tried to keep communicating with each other when we had questions or were unsure about any aspect of the project. We had noticed that we had not heard from Annette for a few days about the project so we made sure to reach out to her again to make sure she was still ok with everything that was happening to which she responded that she was. I think we were all very respectful of each others time and ideas when it came to deadlines. Everyone was very helpful if someone needed clarification on anything which I…

Bradford, I really enjoyed your post as we share the same ideas and seem to have the same experiences with multiple supervisors. I liked how you stated up front that unity of command and unity of direction mean different things and not should not be confused with each other. To me, unity of command is the most important because unity of direction cannot exist without it, especially in criminal justice. Like you said, each officer should only have one direct supervisor that is ultimately responsible for him or her because confusion can arise if there are more than one. I saw this recently at my agency and it really affects the newer officers if the problem is not corrected. I also saw how unity of direction can really work when one…

Pre-O helped me transition because it helped me make friends before classes started. While everyone else were attempting to make new friends the students of Pre-O already formed bonds and found friends. It also helped me become familiar with the campus. The rest of the incoming freshmen were struggling during orientation because they didn't have the advantage that we did. They asked us all types of questions such as 'Where is Modlin?', 'What is the quickest way to get back to the dorms?', and so on. All in all, it was just a nice feeling to be able to knowledgeable and not have to struggle with new surroundings.…

For a good while we had difficulty determine what our goal and vision for the presentation was. We had a plethora of research but we failed to clearly outline a vision. Due to this weakness, toes got stepped on and conflict arose, but by the end we were able to resolve it and develop a well-crafted presentation. Another weakness in our group was the fact that Sydney wasn’t able to be there for the conference to present with us. Her father was battling cancer and it was a rather stressful time for her. Despite all the weaknesses and conflict, we were able to develop relationship and create an effective…

Fort Fights Cancer Week was a project I had to take on by myself the past year. It’s an event that Fort Osage High School puts on to raise money for cancer. Everything was on me including the end result, whether that be a success or a failure that would teach me something in the process. I helped organize it in the past, as well as other events like such, but never had I taken something like that on by myself with no help from really anyone. My teacher informed me that she wanted to change the organization we would donate to due to poor experience with the organization we had been working with in the past. This started the long process of the event in the school year prior to the event.…

The interactive orals, presented to the class, brought up the fact of how closely related our countries are even though they seem very foreign. There were many philosophical, political, and social contexts discussed, but that's not what poetry is all about. Poetry is about expression, it's about showing your point of view, and your intake on the world's aspects. These poems were developed through specific analyzation by many different artists. By learning these new poems, we pretty are now pretty much culturally rich.…
