Reflective Essay: Moving To Arizona
One summer day I was thinking about what I should do to make the day more interesting. I was thinking for a whole hour and finally came up with a great idea. I went up to my dad and asked "Can I could go to Grandma and Grandpa's house for the weekend to go visit them in Arizona?" My dad snickered and said "no", the reason was because I didn't have enough money to pay for what I wanted if I went down to visit them.

For the past month I have saved up for the trip down to Arizona. Once the time finally came, I have reached $200. I then asked my dad again, "Can I could go down to my Grandparent's house?", and he replied "no". "Why he would not let me, and what else do I have to do?" I said. He then replied saying "You didn't have to do anything,

It was our last day and we were headed to the airport. I was very disappointed that I didn’t have my phone for the plane ride home. It was a long drive there and it felt like forever. For some reason my dad pulled off the interstate and pulled into a Verizon Wireless parking lot. My dad went inside and was in there for half an hour. I asked my mom “What are we doing here?”…

After our presentations this past week I was provided with a lot of insight on places all over the united states that I may want to move too in the future. It is very important too travel and break out of your comfort zone in order to experience new things in life. That being said I have narrowed where I would like to move down to two different places, but there is one place I refuse to move too, because it would be too much of a culture shock for a boy who was born and raised in Middlesex County, New Jersey.…

The setting of the airplane adds meaning and understanding to the story. During the flight, we get to see the first person-to-person interaction Thomas Builds-the-Fire has with someone other than Victor. This interaction seals the lid on any conjectures we had about Thomas's social skills, maturity level and understanding of his Indian ancestry.…

I told my dad the directions that I thought were the right directions to get to my driving test in Glens Falls. When we realized that this was not the place and that time was running. Instead of using my phone my dad decided to ask some people if they knew how to get to the driving test place in Glens Falls. So know we were kind of last and we had to find the place fast because I was going to be late for my driving test and was going to need to reschedule it again.…

The first place I would pick to move to is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Everyone forgets about this part of Michigan, half of the time it isn’t on the weather maps on the news. I think it would still be hard because I would have to pick up my life and transfer it to another world. At this point I understand that I would have to give up the luxuries I love so much. I would keep my phone but I cannot take my entire bedroom, my car, or my school with me. I know a lot of my family would stay put. They would suffer through it because they wouldn’t believe it until it was actually happening. My mother’s side of the family is very old fashioned and will not leave their ground because they have already been here so long and have worked so hard.…

This happened when I first moved to Kansas. It was the middle of summer and there were no kids around close to my age so I was alone. First i named some roses that were in my front lawn and drew pictures with them of crappy looking rabbits because that was all I knew how to draw. my mom came home one day and I ran up to her and showed her the pictures, saying "And this one rosy drew, and this one Rosetta drew and this one I drew." when I was done my mom said clearly not understanding that they were not real "what house do your friends live in?" Like the dumb kid i was i responded "oh they don't have a house they live in our front yard." Extremely confused and probably creeped out my moms said "can i meet these friends?" It was then I told…

The work on the plantations is very exhausting, and I wish I could move back to Shanghai in China. There are other ethnicities here like Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese, but I usually talk with the other Chinese immigrants. Apparently, there is another language called Pidgin that everyone speaks so they can understand each other. How is everyone else doing over the past 10 years that I have been gone? I hope everything has been fine back in China.…

My father was never really a part of my life. He was kind of a drug and alcohol addict. For all I know, he still is. My mom and him never got married so to be honest, it's not a surprise to me that they didn't stay together. Anyway, he has two other kids with other people and never paid child support for them so he's fifty thousand dollars in debt . My mom felt bad for him so when I was born, she left him off my birth certificate. He came to see me quite a few times in the first three years of my life, but when I turn 6 years old, he stayed behind in Washington, while we moved to Arizona because my mom got a new job. He has never left the state of Washington at least in my lifetime so I have not seen him since I was six. The only time I ever saw him and remember was when I was 10. I was in Washington visiting my grandpa. We visited with my dad for about 30 minutes at a Denny's. Even though he is a drug addict and an alcoholic, he is still my father, and even though my mom does not think he is a good guy, I believe with enough encouragement and enough support he can change and be a better…

One day after school when I was eight, my parents conveyed to our family that we were moving due to my father’s job. I found this bizarre since we had just moved to our massive house in Fort Wayne, IN about two years earlier. I questioned where we were moving to, and my mother told us we were moving to Texas. This time we were moving across several states rather than just a few towns away. Up to that point in lives, we had lived in Indiana, so moving to Texas seemed so far away and across the country.…
