Reflective Essay: Junior Inc.
The bitter cold of winter bites Rebecca’s nose. She doesn’t mind though, because it is snowing. This was is a very unusual event, if you have lived in North Carolina for your entire life, like Rebecca. It almost never snows in North Carolina. The snow stuck to Rebecca’s short, chin length hair. The white snow stood out brilliantly, because her hair is such a dark brown. Her green eyes squinted, trying to see Junior Inc. As soon as she could see the tall business building, she rushed to it. Only then did she realize that all of the buttons on her shirt were in the wrong places. She grumbled, knowing that she is already too late for work to be able to change them now. She ran to the building, chilled to the core, her black cardigan doing nothing against the cold wind. There was someone at …show more content…
“Bec,” Alan said, trying once more to make her feel good, and excited for the day to come, “You're young, you need to take control of your life, and do not let any rude, sexist boss ruin that for you.” She thought about that. Mr.Junior is always rude to her, for the littlest things, when he doesn’t care if it is some other male in the building. This would be a super fun job, if everyone treated her as an equal. But, instead of going in her direction, Junior turned to Alan. He began to yell as soon as Alan exited the elevator, “You are retiring? He let the ministries zip past (the pink, the white), and a series of stores on the main street, their windows flash ing. Now he was beginning the most pleasant part of the run, the real ride: a long street bordered withtrees, very little traffic, with spacious villas whose gardens rambled all theway down to the sidewalks, which were barely indi cated by low hedges. Abit inattentive perhaps, but tooling along on the right side of the street, heallowed himself to be carried away by the freshness, by the weightlesscontraction of this hardly begun day. This involuntary relaxa tion, possibly, kept him from preventing the accident. When he saw that the womanstanding on the corner had rushed into the crosswalk while he still had thegreen light, it was already somewhat too late for a simple solu tion. Hebraked hard with foot and hand, wrenching him self to the left; he heard thewoman scream, and at the collision his vision went. It was like falling asleep all at once. He came to abruptly. Four or five young men were get ting him out from under the cycle. Voices which did not seem to belong to thefaces hanging above him encouraged him cheerfully with jokes and assurances. His single solace was to hear someone else confirm that thelights indeed had…

Being a big sister I have always been introduced into the basics of how to take care a children. For my senior project I chose the self-development option where I took a class at WITC on “Intro to Child Care.” The class had a Pass/Fail grading system. Also I took the class to determine if I want to pursue a career in childcare so I would know what colleges to go to and what programs I would need to pursue. The initial goals I had before starting the class were to complete the class, to expand my knowledge and to decide whether or not to pursue childcare as a career.…

I could only see by the faint light of the candle on the nightstand. We weren't allowed lights bright enough to be seen through the window. It was too distracting. I was given a red dress to change into. The three men from the day before escorted me out of the room and into the square. It was raining. Dawn had just began to break, and in the gray light of the morning I could see the community. Alice from school looked betrayed. I had known her since we were four, when she would come play after school in my yard. My teacher, Mr. Wallace, had told me I had a knack for Shakespeare. Now he looked on with an icy fury. My mother, so proud before, now had tears streaming down her face. She refused to look at me. This would be the second child she lost to the Hunt. I was surrounded by a sea of yellow, blue, green, orange, gray, and black. My red dress told them all that I had been a failure. A…
