When I interviewed Pat, he first had a problem that the safety glasses would actually increase risk. For this, I gave him my personal assurance that best quality glasses would be provided to avoid any increase in risk and that I have personally checked into the grading system of the association responsible. Another issue Pat had was that the glasses are actually unnecessary in the department in addition to being an unnecessary cost for the company. The negotiation tactic I used for this was that even if that argument was true it’s no use getting suspended over such petty compromises. I said that when one rule is broken, everyone starts considering all rules to be unimportant. If Pat doesn’t wear the safety glasses, any new employees in the other departments might also start considering it an unimportant rule, a situation that would be unacceptable to the company’s upper management. I also used the strategy of the whole company acting as a team, i.e., one for all and all for one. As far as the cost factor was concerned, I explained to…

This paper will address some of these concerns about whether communication in the two module five videos was effective or ineffective during the various parts and also how the conflict that was experienced…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

First negotiations in this class showed me that I was not prepared well for them. It was difficult for me, because I was not sure if I was negotiating in the right way or not. I think that when you have real negotiations you have more time to do your homework, to set up your goals and results which you want to get. It is always easier when you know your target, points which you can lose or gain. In my case, I realized how to do it after the third lesson when we tried to negotiate about multiple issues. Negotiations are not simple things. Sometimes you need to lose in some moments to gain in main one. Now I can see it, I can feel when it is important something for a person or not. In negotiations you always have a chance to know it. If somebody gives up very quickly it means that this issue or moment does not play a great role for him. Moreover, in the beginning of this course I thought that I am a…
