Unsolved Problem
A reflection paper in the movie “Catnip” Did you experience being shouted with very loud voice of your parents? Did your parents use profane language when he/she was shouting to you? Or even tried to hurt you when they were angry? Do you ever wonder why they are doing that to you?
The movie was casted by Lauren Young as Liv, Maxene Magalona as Cieca and Rommel Luna as Father. The movie was directed by Kevin Dayrit. The story revolved around the life of Liv which suffered from a psychological problem. She had two personalities in the body of Liv, a girl who had a psychological problem and in the body of Cieca, a girl who was normal and always sad. As the story goes on, Liv’s father was her own doctor where he was always angry and hurt her when she was not in her normal state. At the end, Liv killed her two personalities to end her miserable life.
I think the movie was not ended well because some viewers thought that Liv will escape her psychological problem but instead memories of Liv and Cieca together were used to end the movie. At first, I thought that Liv and Cieca were sisters but when the director explained the synopsis of the movie, he said that Cieca was only one of the two personalities of Liv. The movie had a good story but in the end director failed to explain what happens to Liv.
I can relate to the movie not having a psychological problem but having a different problem. I have a family problem where my father and mother separated when I was still young. Until now, I wasn’t able to see my father in person. Only my mother worked hard to give me a good future. According to my relatives, my father has his own family in Laguna. This problem made my whole life being bothered because I want to see in person my true father. I have many problems in life but this is the most important problem I want to be solved. I promised to myself

Usually, movies like this would end like the boy gets the girl. That even the girl did not want a serious relationship or did not believe in love at first, in the end it will all change and they’ll live happily ever after. Instead they showed how people or rather the guy struggle to go through his life after his dream girl dumped him. I think that’s their unique selling point. Showing the realness, the real struggle and the choices we make in life. Either give in with the pain or let go and move on. Which is too embarrassing for anyone to share, but this film will make people realize that they’re not alone and that it is normal.…

The narrative structure of the film is non-linear. It jumps from the past to the present and captures the different perspectives and experiences of different characters. By using a non-linear structure, we are able to draw parallels between our protagonist and her daughter as one has life-changing experiences and the other making life-changing discoveries. The recurring themes of remorse, forgiveness and resolution happen simultaneously in the past and present.…

When I was little there were times when my parents negotiated with me involving punishments behind my actions. When I asked "why?" more than one time then I would be slapped. My parent’s responses to my response are mostly "because I said so." Most of the time I would talk back to my mother and just keep asking "why?" or say "this isn’t fair." When I say that I would always think to myself how unfair life can really be and that life isn’t always fair. While I am talking back to my mother or keep asking the say question then my father would walk in and tell me to do it or respect my mother. When my father tells me I would do it because I am afraid of him when I was little. Most of the time if I see my father coming I would run away and go do what my mother do me to do. If my father catches me after he walks away to go get his belt or reach across the table to give me a quick slap across the mouth. I would be trying to not cry and hold back the tears while hiding my head under my arms and the negotiation would be complete.…

Every adult has gone through a phase where they were rebellious towards, or simply didn't appreciate, their parents. While most parents have a great deal of affection for their children, some parents express themselves through their actions. For children who grew up with affectionate parents it may seem hard to visualize what it would be like to have a secluded and strained relationship with them. And unfortunately some children grow up with cold distant parents who have little to no affection for them. Some children have a complicated mix of affection and fretfulness or are filled with angst for no apparent reason. As children, many are unaware of their parent's affection or the struggles that exist from parenthood. I was lucky enough to be…

Another harmful myth about borderline personality disorder is that mental disorders, by their nature, don 't require close family involvement in the treatment process if it is to be optimally effective. There are now preliminary research data that suggest that family involvement is also very important in the effective treatment of borderline disorder. Nonetheless, many psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians continue to deny meaningful input from family members, especially parents and spouses, to aid in the treatment process. Even in “Girl, Interrupted” all patients were sent to a hospital were they remained till they were “cured” and their families were hardly seen at all.My personal rating of “Girl, Interrupted” would not be very high. I feel that the movie is more about how women can support each other through the toughest of circumstances. Than about borderline personality disorder. It 's not a bad film, it has in my opinion some very good acting, including a great performance by Angelia Jolie. Where the films strays off into weak areas is in its presentation of characters and storyline. The characters are fleshed out with obvious problems like weight disorders, pathological lying, disfigurement, etc... It is not that their problems are obvious, but they are presented through cliches linked with each respective illness. It is easy to understand the characters, but hard to get attached. The film also tries too hard to push the idea that these folks are not as insane as the chaotic times that surround them.…

The most exciting part of JEP is that I have no idea what I am getting into. While my professor told me, “I would be teaching occupational therapy to students”, I was quite skeptical to this idea. It will be my first time learning this material myself, but now I would have to transfer it to younger students in a comprehensible notion. This aspect of the program still worries me, but simultaneously excites me with what lies ahead.…

Community service/volunteerism is the rendering of assistance to individuals without financial gain (i.e. giving back to the community).
