Reflection Paper on Life Goals
More and more Americans are struggling to stay healthy. People are finding it harder to fit exercise into their lives, develop healthy eating habits, maintain their weight, and to manage stress. It is not that people aren’t trying, but the American way of life has become a roadblock to the pursuit of health. In order to improve our health; we must shift our focus on improving our lifestyle behavior. Over the course of this semester, this class has taught me to analyze my overall well-being, stress level, and what to expect from my future. To begin I’ll start by introducing myself, goals, aspirations, education, and what life is like for me on a day to day basis. My name is Loretta; this is my final semester at Mercy College. I will obtain my Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies with a specialization in Paralegal Studies. In addition, I have obtained my certification to practice as a Mediator in the state of New York. Presently, I am employed full time as a Paralegal; I also hold a certification as a Sports Nutritionist. My academic goal is to successfully complete Law School; my career goal is to become an Attorney. I prefer roles where I work independently; after being employed as a paralegal for the last 3 years I have come to realize my ability to work alone and complete multiple tasks are more efficient than working with a team. This is because when working on a case it is difficult to share the workload, not knowing where someone made an error, or if a motion was not filed correctly; it is too time consuming to fix the mistake of someone else. Therefore, if I made a mistake I’ll know exactly how to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, by working alone I haven’t had the privilege of making friends. This puts a damper on my social life and possibly my social skills. In addition, I noticed my stress level is pretty high due to taking 6 classes/ semester, work Full Time and cohabitate with my boyfriend. My diet could also be better; there are never

Now fast forwarding to now the year of 2014, as a senior I believe I have accomplished a lot that might help achieve my lifetime goal. The experience of being in school clubs such as National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Health Students Occupations of America, and Leadership Experience Opportunity has taught me a lot about time management. As I had to manage time in order to balance schoolwork, community service, and my time into a nonprofit organization called Lend a Hand VYO. Although I had trouble with juggling time which is a problem for Asians, I manage to get through with keeping up with my grades and being in so many organizations. My mentors that have been a part of the prestigious organizations continuously remind me of its influence due to the emphasis the organization places on education and helping the community. Learning from their experience, I decided to take initiative by placing a higher priority on my education, and helping out Houston community and communities abroad in rural…

The way a person believes is usually influenced by various different life factors, which is why no one ever agrees on everything. We all have our own aspect of life. The place where one begins to learn and pick up from is usually home with family. Although there are many things including, friends, books, media, income; and even race, gender, and ethnicity that contribute to why people believe differently. My own beliefs, I think have been influenced by family of course, but also by my own personal knowledge and experience; which is only gained by living.…

In many markets there has been an increase in “ availability of the variety of palatable and affordable foods” (“Understanding the American Obesity Epidemic”). The prices of unhealthy food are often inexpensive and require no additional cooking, which leads many to avoid cooking a healthy nutritional meal. In life, often many events can cause stress in life which in many cases can lead people to increase their eating habits. Among many obese people, “it has been found that stress can be another negative causing factor to being obese or increasing the risk of being obese” (“Understanding the American Obesity Epidemic”). Some kids play sports in high school. Others are in the band, take roles in theater, or members of the debate team. Myself, I did not so any of those things, because, since middle school, my life has been fully devoted to practicing my passion for agriculture and preparing for an eventual career in the industry. I never had time for orchestra rehearsals or scrimmages, I was either out in the barn or in the pens in the field, or at plant ID practice, livestock judging workouts, or chapter meetings instead. These things even took the place of milestones such as prom and homecoming dances for me in middle/high school, but, it was completely fine to me, because, I knew my hard work would soon pay off as soon as…

Purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or why something exists. My purpose, the reason as to why I exist, is to help people and inspire them to stay motivated to becoming successful even through difficult times. The reason this is my purpose is because I have a passion for helping people see their full potential. My personal goal is to speak to foster children and write a book about my life to share it with them by 2020, my educational goal is to graduate Valencia with a 3.5 GPA and to be accepted into a nursing program by 2017, and my career goal is to become a neonatal nurse practitioner by 2023.…

There are many types of goals. Growing up, I always dreamed of being two things: a mother and a nurse. I am blessed to have two wonderful children ages 14 and 16 and have had the privilege of being able to be a stay-at-home mom during their younger years. Now that they are older and a bit more independent, I have decided to go back to school and fulfill my goal of earning my degree in Nursing. Throughout the years of growing and maturing, I have learned how important it is to have good morals, values, goals, a passion for something, and a good education. I have not only taught my children the importance of these characteristics, but I have also shown them that regardless of one’s age or stage in life, that…

I was raised with the beliefs that there is an importance of having security in all aspects of life, whether that is financial, physical, or emotional. These were, and still are, the ultimate objectives I have for myself and every action I take and have taken has been formed around this sentiment. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…
