Reflection Paper About Moving To College
Moving in to college came with many changes and adjustments. First was my living situation. I have never had to share space with people with a different schedule than mine. At home my family all got up at the same time and went to bed at similar times. In college that is not the case. My suite mates and I run on opposite schedules. Having to be quiet in the morning when they are still sleeping is a major adjustment for me. This has allowed me to practice curtesy in being quiet in the morning.

Having lived in a variety of countries, I have developed a level of interest and compassion for various communities and environments. I often felt like an outsider when my family and I would initially move to a new city. The unique experience of being able to look into a community or society from the outside allowed myself to not only appreciate but also analyze my surroundings. Growing up in South Korea, California and Louisiana, due to my father’s work, allowed me to appreciate different cultures while developing an awareness for the greater, overarching society of the world. I was able to be a part of the individual culture of each distinct community while developing an appreciation for the way in which all communities are connected.…

The reason I choose APUS was because I was looking to pursue my degree with the luxury of flexibility. By flexibility, I mean simply time. I know college could be a scary decision, more high school with overdue papers and stress, I’ll pass. This was because the only scope on college I had were the constant reminders of tons of useless work that goes unnoticed. The idea of being in a classroom so large the professor has no Idea I exist. I know what you’re thinking, why not a community college? Well, community college would have been great, if I had the funds. The sky started to glow fiery red as the sun moved behind the mountains. My grandfather and I regularly walked during the evenings but that day we walked for a while. There was something different about that day, as though we didn’t want to go back home. We kept on strolling down the red brick road until we reached the famous Buddhist monument which was fairly close from our house. The monument had immense eyes that stared at everyone who walked past it. My grandfather explained to me that the eyes were there to look after the whole world and everyone who lived in it. On the contrary of the perception of that monument, I was rather angry at the sight of an elderly woman with an infant begging for food. I asked my grandfather, “If the eyes are…

I am determined to go to college even if there are some setbacks that make harder for me to do so. For example, when I was in 10th grade I found out that I had scoliosis, and the only way that I would be able to treat it was through surgery. At the time that I had found this out, I had already planned out my sophomore year; I was going to take 2 AP classes and 2 math courses above my grade level. At the time I truly believed that I was going to be able to go through the surgery, take all my classes, and very least get decent grades in all my classes, including my AP classes. However, that semester ended up being my worst.…

The education I have received from my parents has been fundamental in my personal development. “I will give my best and I will not accept less than that” that was how my father made me start my day. Since I was little my parents erased the words “ I can not” and “I do not know” from my vocabulary. They taught me that I had to face my responsibilities and problems no matter what, for this reason, I was astonished when we moved to Texas two years ago and they told me that I could not be in 11th grade.…

The single most impactful experience in my life is attending Ventura Community College. Nothing has hurt me more. In high school I had taken AP and IB classes and had finished within the top ten percent of my class but I had no idea what I wanted to do. I applied to some schools that I considered to be mediocre so that I could continue swimming, but as the application deadlines ended and most of my friends were being accepted to places such as UCLA, UCSB, and even Harvard, I had realized that I wanted a greater challenge and possibly a greater reward. It was too late, I was going to community college.…

Hi, I’m Suzzana, I think you know that by now. I’m currently attending Camden County College. I am transferring because as you might know, most community colleges are two year schools. Community College has been great for me. I was never achievement orientated when I was in grade school. I was enrolled in an alternative school since the 8th grade. I was behind in my academics, but I would like to say I compensate in life experience. When I was younger around the age of 9 I was bullied a lot. I was chubby and I increasingly gained weight at that time. My influx of weight was the baggage of my emotions and my families struggles. My parents divorced when I was 10, my mom was escorted out by police. I only had my dad for a year. Then, I had missed…

What does college success me to me? To me it means a lot of things such as graduating with at least a B average without dropping out or failing any of my classes but most importantly it means that I walked away with something important. If you fail, you are still successful as long as you know that you tried your best, and did whatever it took to get there even if you didn’t fully succeed. Success is getting everything you want or need in life by working your hardest and trying your best and not doing anything meaningless. Success to me is getting everything you want or need in life by working your hardest and trying your best. When all the goals that I had set for myself have been fulfilled, then I can say that my time at college was truly a success. College success means to me more than just grades in college, it also means that I used my time wisely and took my education seriously, trying the hardest I possibly could, and being productive. Trying to get as much knowledge I can get out of it so I can apply it to day to day issues or work being done . You gain experience in a lot of different stuff. You want to know what your field contains and you want to have the full college experience. The reason I why I am attending college here at NOVA is because so I can get a good education and a transfer to 4 year college to finish my college education. While I am getting an education, I want to obtain a degree so I can be able to obtain a good paying job that I know and will enjoy doing for the rest of my life. That is my take on college…

For my personal reflection story I choose to focus on returning to school after a long period of time in order to become self-supporting and show my children the importance of an education. This reflection was important to me to show the class that no matter the length of time one is absent from gaining a higher education, they can always return to school and start again. Also it was important to say or imply, never stop working on oneself or become fully reliant on somebody for support in this life. I disclosed a brief history of myself and the fact that I had started my family early in life and become basically stagnant in personal growth while also having the opportunity to raise my children. This blessing was to become my demise when…
