Reflection On The Betances Scholarship
The Betances scholarship is based on the ideals of community service and betterment of the world as a whole. I myself share parallel interests which have been reflected in my activities since high school and even up until present day. In high school I worked for organizations such as Heroes and Cool Kids and Tilly’s Kids. Heroes and Cool Kids is designed for older people like me to empower young children to live a life as leaders. The organization Tilly’s Kids, also provided charity in the form of gifts and clothes during our Christmas VIsit. In college I joined the fraternity Pi Kappa Phi. Through this organization I have been able to support our yet another philanthropy the Ability Experience. This program is Pi Kappa Phi’s national philanthropy

I am honored to be considered among the superior academic students at MCC and to be applying to the National Honor Society. If I am accepted into the National Honor Society, a service obligation that I would like to propose is collecting items for the babies and mothers in the Genesis House here in Melbourne. The Genesis House is a donation run organization that not only helps pregnant mothers, but also mothers who have newborns or young toddlers. I feel that this project would make an impact on many people’s lives. Most people in our world today believe that people in the Genesis House of Melbourne are fine because they have the volunteers there to support and care for them which sadly, isn’t always the case.…

Throughout my four years of high school, I have consistently pushed myself beyond my limits and comfort zones in attempt to discover my place in the world. I spent most of first two years discovering who I was as an individual, ultimately manifesting into inspiration for success. I grew out of “fitting in” and decided to turn my life and aspirations towards a greater direction; on this road of discovery, I separated myself from those who valued arrogance and indifference. “Nerd Squad” is what I am a part of today, which is why I am currently confident enough to apply for the National Honors Society Scholarship. I believe I have grown into a tenacious, sympathetic, and joyous young man that the entire school has seen develop, and I am honored…

I would like to begin by saying that I am honored to be a nominee for membership into the 2013 Senior Honor Society of York College of Pennsylvania. I take passion in my academic studies and my community involvement. The opportunity to be recognized for the impact I have made on my college and local community is truly flattering. After spending my first two years at Millersville University, I began my studies at York College in my third year of college as a junior. Living in Spring Grove, I made the decision to live at home, work a part-time job, and commute to York College. These factors are all things that could have impacted my campus-life involvement, but I was determined to not let these factors impact my college experience. I jumped head first into the York College Community and was accepted with open arms into whatever groups I wanted to become affiliated with on campus.…

Their goal is to bring families closer together and inspire children to dream big. Listening to children’s aspirations remind me of my own. I tell them to never give up and have the “grit” of determination. Secondly, National Honors Society has played an integral role in helping me become a leader in the community. Recognizing students not only for their academics, but also their leadership abilities within the school. The ability to join together with students who love to help make changes in their communities is the reason why I am a part of this organization. Lastly, I have been involved with the Junior Volunteer program at Methodist Richardson Hospital. At the forefront of operations in the hospital, I am responsible for providing a helping hand and cheering smile, to brighten the patients and families’ days. Allowing me to fulfill my passion for helping improve other people’s…
