Reflection On Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies

Reflecting back over the last past eight weeks as provided me the experience to meet MSN program outcome # 7 and MSN Essential III, Nurse Practitioner Core Consequences #4 Practice Inquiry Competencies. This was accomplished by addressing clinical issues using case scenarios. It became apparent that the subjective data process was instrumental in identifying the key factors for determining differential diagnosis. Based on this information, it was possible to determine the physical examination areas, the irrelevant labs, and determine the needed test. This meets the MSN Essential 11 for quality improvements and safety as they are based on an evidence based practice. The presented scenarios addressed the ability to meet Program Outcome #7 by determining the care models based on evidence conducted in the last five years.
The opportunity to demonstrate delivering optimal care using an evidenced practice for developing a plan that entailed prescribing medications, conducting patient education, identifying additional tests, making referrals, and identify follow up needs. This task was particularly advantageous for develop Nurse Practitioner Core Competences #4 Practice Inquiry Competencies. As a future FNP, it is necessary to be a leader that can convert new knowledge into practice. This was one of the fundamental principles used in the class. The scenarios presented required the ability to use knowledge for practice, obtain knowledge in practice, contribute to improving patient outcomes, provide an evidence practice to patients, and implement guidelines.
