Reflection On My Senior Project
My Senior Project was based on teaching the 6th grades of Talent Middle School and some from White Mountain Middle School. Our camp would teach boys and girls the basic skills of basketball as well as adding drills that we learned at our high school basketball practices. Eleazar and I would make shooting drills, dribbling drills, and show them to play proper defence.
The steps my partner and I would go through every monday and friday would be Layups. We would do layups for about 10 minutes at the beginning of every practice, then begin with our warm up drills which is running a couple laps and some drills with the basketball like going around cones dribbling. The things that we have developed doing toward the end of my senior project compared to the first couple hours are growing the relationship with the kids and knowing how they play. Each individual kid is stronger at one thing and weaker with another. Throughout my project I have not made many changes. At the beginning of the camp I would struggle with trying to get hours in my project due to basketball practices. When

I had a blast working and teaching these kids what I love to do on my spare time. I learned that no matter what age you are one can still work hard and have the ability to gain our knowledge about basketball. I was proud of the kids showing up whenever they could. They would come to work hard and were dedicated to their job. When we made shirts and handed them out, the kids all wore them to school the following day and were given multiple comment about them. They were so excited to wear them shirts to school and delighted by the way they turned out. This project made me think about what I want to be when I grow up, possibly even one of the things I have on my bucket list. Although that I accomplished many goals throughout this project I Feel like some qualities I can use outside of high school are teaching,

In my case, I would state that I dont need any more chiefs on this project when I need Indians for the tribe. Meaning I have enough eyes on me, but I could use some help in on the actual project itself. I would think if they trusted Jim with a project like this they would have given him the reigns and stop hovering over his shoulder. In a since, with the appointment of Bob Petroski and sally Fukuyama on the team they have all but taken away the full credit of the project of Jim. They have forced Jim into a lose-lose situation. The success of the project would be taken by the cronies of the department head and the Chief operating officer and the failure would fall solely into Jims lap. During my high school years approximately around my sophomore/ junior year my basketball team including I myself attended the Hoops for Haiti fundraiser that Meredith Elementary school hosted. Hoops for Haiti helps aid the disaster relief fund that is held in Haiti. Hundreds of elementary school children paid $5 each for a chance to play with not only Neumann-Goretti’s women’s basketball team but also the men’s team too. All proceeds were meant to go directly to rebuild and fund schools in Haiti. I decided to talk about this specific service that I participated in because not only was it fun but I got to interact with kids younger than me and was able to put smiles on their faces, those who were there and hopefully those in Haiti knowing that they do have people who care and want to help them out in every way possible.…

I played basketball for all four years of my high school. I was on the freshman team my freshman year, Junior Varsity team my sophomore year, and played Varsity my junior and senior year. My freshman year I was voted team captain and that helped me gain leadership skills and communication skills. I earned the award of honorable mentioned in basketball. In Basketball I practiced a lot, because I knew I could get better. Throughout basketball we had several coaching changes. We had Mr. Smith then Mr. Parker and now Mrs. Smith as coaches. Having a different coach every year I feel like it was making it more difficult for the players to grow as a team and ourselves. Each coach had very different ways of teaching the game. Even though it was hard to have coaches leave we also gained different amounts of knowledge from each one, which I thought was a great privilege to get to…

With this mindset, I focused my attention on making the basketball team my junior year. Every day, after marching band rehearsal, I would practice dribbling in my garage, rap or rock blaring through the speakers that had I set up. The weights that used to gather dust, rusting away in the corner, gained a new purpose as I performed a wide arrangement of exercises, ranging from curls to squats. The heated air, accompanied by the occasional breeze, and the concrete pavement was my…

Since I was 7 years old, basketball has played an integral part of my life. I have devoted countless hours to not just a sport, but a passion, an outlet; to the game that I love. When I arrived at Bow Middle School as a fifth grader, my classmates and I would always look up to the 7th and 8th grade middle school basketball teams. Every year during winter carnival, the boys and girls teams would play a game in front of the entire school. Playing in that game became a dream and a goal of mine, but first I would need to make the team. For three years I developed my basketball skills, using my passion for the sport and desire to play in that game as motivation. When tryouts for basketball in 8th grade drew near, I knew I was ready. However a new coach would be at the helm this year. Our new basketball coach was also a coach for the youth football program. This resulted in numerous football…

Prompt #1. In my third year of highschool I was on the girl’s basketball team. I was one of the team captains. The experience of being a team captain helped me realize that i am a good helper and I always come to practices and games with a good attitude. On the basketball team there were a few people who didn’t know how to play. My responsibilities of being a team captain was to make sure my other teammates knew where to stand, know what plays to call out, how to dribble the ball correctly, shoot correctly, and how to move their feet they way the ball moves. One experience I remember was when I had to teach two of the team members how to shuffle their feet the way the ball goes. During the process of teaching them, I feel as if they were frustrated because there were many steps and plays to playing basketball. I was able to help them by telling them to take their time and not to worry about the other teammates who already know how to play. After basketball season was over, I learned that i wasing looked at as a leader from my coaches and my teammates which meant I have to put in all of my effort and always have a positive attitude, I learned that everything is not all about me, and I also I learned how people feel when they don't know how to accomplish…
