Reflection On Gcu Senate
The month of January was a busy month. There was a lot of excitement that happen in terms of new resolution ideas, creating the survey that we gave to students, and just getting to spend time doing weekly interactions. During this month, I got to grow even more as a senator on the ASGCU senate, and feel that I am starting to make a different on the GCU campus. I want to share with you the busy and amazing month I have had on the senate. The first thing that I accomplished this month was getting two resolution ideas cleared to start writing the initial resolution. My two ideas were, to extend the hours at Fresh Fusion so it is open later week nights and to be open for lunch on the weekends. The second resolution idea was to have the farmers market to come onto campus multiple times within the month. I plan to present both these ideas at the next public senate meeting. This is an exciting time for me since these are the first two resolution ideas I have brought up to the president of senate. I am excited to finally start helping the students of GCU by extending the …show more content…
During these interactions students got to share how they felt about various topics. This interaction time is very important as it gives ASCCU an insight on campus issues. In addition, I especially enjoy the interaction times as I get to spend time with students. Every time I meet with students, they are always complimenting ASGCU on how we are bringing ASGCU to them and that they are starting to feel like their voices are really being heard; which as a senator is a huge compliment because it means we are doing a good job. Even though this month brought in a lot new challenges, it was a very exciting month, and I had the opportunity to grow even more as a senator. I cannot wait to present my resolution ideas to the senate and continue to help the students of Grand Canyon

As tracy opened the meeting with an introduction, this gave all the staff members time to think about what they were going to say and gave everyone a chance to participate and speak. Tracy also made it clear about the ground rules; one individual was to speak at one time and the atmosphere was to stay clear and positive. The objective of the interaction…

From field trips, to tutorials, our class has been extremely interactive with one another. We have gone on a total of 3 field trips. One to Pacific Lutheran University, one to UW Tacoma, and one to Evergreen State College. Each trip has opened my eyes for possible future options. During each trip I learned of the college campus, the history, and the programs within the college. While learning these things, I had to ask insightful and specific questions. This really has…

Today is November 10, 2016, yesterday, the aim was “How does Odysseus’s arrival on Ithacan shores compare with his other island adventures?” but we answered the aim in the last quarter of the period. For the beginning of class, we talked about yesterday being Doomsday (Donald Trump won the election) and expressed things that worried us as well as a silver lining. For example, Britney said that the change of party may be a good thing because it is something new. In addition, the whole situation was very miniscule in comparison to the civil war even though two halves of the USA are angry with each other. We aren’t using weapons to kill each other, and have advanced to using words, which shows how we have improved over time.…

This cartoon depicts corporate interests in the end of the 19th century. Further analysis of the cartoon shows that the “people’s entrance” is bolted shut (a metaphor for the middle to lower class, who feel that large businesses and monopolies have gained substantially more political power than their counterparts. The sign in the back states, “This is a Senate of the Monopolists, by the Monopolists, for the Monopolists.” This is another way of criticizing the government with a somewhat satirical approach. The size of the businessmen in comparison with the Senate is another representation of their control over the Senate. The Monopolists are depicted by representing their interest in various industries (such as coal, iron, steel, oil, copper, etc.) and the impact that those industries have on the senate. These oversized monopolists represent large corporation owners of the day, such as Vanderbilt, Carnegie, and Rockefeller. The overall theme of this cartoon is political corruption, and it intends to bring the issue to surface on a larger stage.…

For my activity points, I attended the Plate of the Union political event, a group that is focused on getting healthy, affordable food to all Americans. The Plate of the Union holds monthly meetings at various locations around the city, at a variety of restaurants, focused on getting healthier foods on the menu, ones that support local farmers. This organization needs the government to pitch in, especially the President, since they would help bring more awareness to the cause and allow more funds to be put towards this problem.…

One of the first interact club events I took charge of organizing involved reading to kids at an underprivileged elementary school. I served as the role model for a large group of curious young students and gained a more insightful perspective of the substantial impact that my volunteer work actually has on the community. Reading to kids is one example of an Interact event that influenced me into becoming a more effective communicator with different types of learners.…

Specifically undertaking budget advocacy efforts to increase the budgeted funds allotted in the upcoming fiscal year to be administered by the unit-based council leaders for reward to those who engage in unit projects. For example, being able to allot funds to send an engaged team member to a requested conference. A SMART goal that directly addresses this recommendation is the target of completing two focused nursing department specific budget training courses by the second week of March. This goal is realistic and attainable if I take the primary action to submit my electronic registration for the courses by March 1st. This would allow for requisite knowledge and budgeted funds to promote a healthy contingent rewards system that involved the unit based council…

It's been an interesting school year to say the least. Sadly, all I've heard about for the last few weeks , has been relevant to the strike that took place. I have mixed feelings on the strike, but I'm glad it is a issue of the past now. I'm looking forward to being able to focus on what's important, my education. I honestly don't know what to expect moving forward in this English class, and our final major project revolves around an infograph, relating to the subject of abortion.…
