Reflection Of My Writing Class
Whenever participating in any type of writing class, I tend to discover numerous strengths and weaknesses behind my work. I benefit greatly from reviewing my old essays, and reflecting on my personal growth. This type of pattern has been consistent since I started focusing on becoming a better writer, and it has led to some serious strides in a few departments. Being given the opportunity to be a part of Professor Murray’s class this semester, allowed for me to reassess this method I always used, and refine some of the bad tendencies I created. Whenever we spent entire class periods reviewing our past writing assignments, it benefited me greatly. Getting to break down my work in front of the class, and listen to other students explain their struggles, has made it quite easy to reflect on the impact this course has had on me.
In all honesty, I did not have a real prewriting process before writing the three essays we were assigned in Professor’s Murray’s class. For as long as I could remember, I had this terrible habit of trying to write a

At the end of an essay, I try to provide some meaningful insight, but it always comes off as corny. I still do not understand, how writers can wrap up a long essay, and then leave the reader with something to think about, in only one paragraph. When I was writing the conclusion for my final essay recently, I tried a few different approaches, with the hope of finding a new solution. I think one of the most important parts of writing, is leaving the reader with a memorable lasting impression. It is tough to feel like I am progressing as writer, when I finish every paper with my weakest skill. Hopefully, the experience and comments I receive about my final paper, will put me on the right path towards correcting this problem. Reaching this specific goal, will allow me to work on other essay skills, in the next few

I am hoping that this class is extremely identical. So once again, my name is Cindy Wong and you just read an essay about my journey as a writer. I hope I was able to take you on a journey with my words into my viewpoints of various kinds of writing subjects that I learned about a couple years ago. I also included within this essay, my summary of “Inventing the University” by David Bartholomae which shows how much I have grown on the way when compared to my summary of “Shitty First Drafts” which was “shitty” compared to the one I just wrote. My writing journey will continue to be more vast and eye opening within this class and I hope to learn many new writing essentials that will be valuable in my…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Clearly end your essay with a paragraph signalling to the reader it is done. This can be accomplished by restating the purpose of the essay in a new way along with a sentence or two about how your essay fulfilled that purpose. Finally, add something that will make an impact on the reader; something they will remember related to your work. As always, this closing paragraph must have at least three sentences. If you are new to formal writing, you will need to plan for extra time to attend to the details. Just like learning any new skill, it gets easier and takes less time with practise.…

We know that to effectively deliver sanctions the message needs to be simple, clear and non-negotiable; in practice it is easy to get caught up in a lengthy argument or confrontation. Focus on moving in, delivering your sanction as discreetly as possible and then moving out quickly. Choose a phrase that you will withdraw on 'I need to see you working as well as you were in yesterday's written task, thank you for listening' or 'I will come back and give you feedback on your work in five minutes'.…

I am comfortable with the flow and cohesion in my scholarly writing. To date everything covered may be basic, however, I have benefitted from the class and required learning resources assigned. Even though my style of writing closely follows the MEAL plan, I outlined the acronym and filled it in for my current assignments. At this point it is hard to tell if it improved my writing.…

As I answered each question of the survey, I realized that none of my answers surprised me, and quite honestly, I felt relieved knowing exactly what my weaknesses are. I found comfort in knowing what I can develop upon. I have always struggled with writing. My mind will draw a blank, or I will panic that my writing is not good enough or meet requirements. I have always been well-organized and allow for efficient time to complete assignments. What stuck out to the most was no matter where I was in the writing process, I always fall into the same difficulties of worrying about the assignment and how well I will do.…

This semester was a great learning experience for me. For my writing process, if I was reading a book, I always highlight specific details or big ideas. It made it easier for me to find important evidence. I also highlighted stuff because I knew your reading quizzes would ask specific details that otherwise wouldn’t be taken into account. I knew what to look for when it came time to actually writing it. When I highlighted, it helped me realize a pattern or the underlining meaning because I would make connections between different parts of the book. During my research paper, the little lesson of how to do bibliography cards was very useful to me. I like to be able to know what is expected and how to meet the expectations, without feeling to…

The first piece of writing in this section is my creative writing. I wrote this piece during my sophomore year after creating a dating website in my spanish class with mrs. kernen. The purpose of this paper was to develop a dating profile of a person that we made up and present it in front of the class. At the time i wrote this paper, my creative writing was not as nearly as good as they are now. Looking back at this piece, i can tell i was ineffective because i had more grammatical and punctuation errors than i should have. I was intrigued by the topic as well, so the amount of time that i had put into this piece of writing was proved within this writing assignment.…

“Writing,” a term that can have several definitions. In my opinion, writing is the simplest and most basic form of physically producing your thoughts and ideas on a platform. Whether it be on paper or in the form of a text message or email, each platform has a specific function and purpose. It’s scary to think about the way writing has evolved over the years, Ever since I was a toddler, I’ve grown up speaking english. Over the years, I definitely think that my writing has developed and evolved and there are many factors that have influenced and shaped the way that I write today. I definitely think that my writing holds some kind of value, but then again I also think that value is something that differs based on the individual. It is also…

Some people look at writing as a tedious process; they are right. I, like many other students, may feel as if it is a full time job. I have to make sure that I start out correctly, recheck my work, see what I can do to make it better, and submit my final piece for evaluation. However, I feel like I may have sparked something inside: a little seed that used to be there a long time ago. In high school I enjoyed English class especially when it came time to keep a journal.…
