I work for sunrise senior living in reminiscences unit. Daily basis I will reflect upon my practice placements and discuss my development in relation to professional/ethical practice, care delivery, care management and personal/ professional development. Ensuring promoting high standards of professional practice and good quality to our senior. During my role as care assistance in the care home setting where I work, I spent a considerable amount of time on a one to one basis as a key worker with a particular resident. For the purpose of this reflective account the resident shall be referred to as Mr Stokes had vascular dementia as his dementia progressed his challenging behaviours increased. Mr S spent a great deal of him day walking around the care home. On good days this was not an issue. However on days that were not so good, Mrs S would walk push through furniture to repeatedly slam his fists against the windows, television screens and any mirrored service shouting and swearing loudly. If another resident, visitor or member of staff from the care home was to approach Mr S, he would verbally abuse them which, with other residents, resulted in physical confrontations. In the first instance it was important that I protected Mr S from physically harming himself like throwing the object and the broken glass .Possible he might cut his hand or bare foot. If he get agitated and restless he often bit his hand by himself. We have to aware ,often placing myself between him and the object of his attention, gently maneuvering him away and diverting his attention on to something else. Being the career of Mr. S. we always try our best to make him calm . If he is in good mood its very nice to chat with him about his family. He always worry about his family ,make him reassure the family are living happily and they are visiting him soon. When we see him in good mood that’s make as happy too. This behaviour...
