Reducing Soda Persuasive Speech
Hi, Charylina! I loved your presentation on limiting soda intake. I know personally how hard it is to give up soda, but the benefits of limiting soda intake are well worth the sacrifice. As you stated in your research, soda consumption can lead to health risks later on, such as live disease and stroke. Your approach to reducing your soda intake was excellent. By removing the antecedent, soda, from your home it appears that you were able to greatly reduce your soda intake. Also, having encouragement from those we love always helps us to reach our goals. Best wishes to you as you move forward in your behavior modification of reducing soda

First of all, I like how you approached your speech with the visual of a reusable water bottle, asking the question immediately grabbing the audience attention ‘By a show of hands, how many of you own and regularly use some sort of reusable water bottle like the one in front of me?’ That is something I wish I could have done different, some type of visual item to grab the audience attention even more. I thought your argument was well presented but I thought you did not really give the students a good enough reason to how it will benefit them. Have to keep in mind that students are more interested in things that benefit them in a huge degree. It seems as if you were just stating the problems it brings when wasting an excessive number of plastic bottles and the changes it will bring in the world if we used reusable bottles, that part I thought you did very well.…

Most college students would have the same thought process as you. They would immediately say "no way! I love my soda", this is unfortunately how the majority of America is like. If we are to change, we have to really put forth the effort for more than a day. PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
