Reduce Poverty and Ensure Basic Amenities of Indian
Poverty is widespread in India, with the nation estimated to have a third of the world's poor. World Bank estimates, 80% of India's population lives on less than $2 a day.[1] According to a 2005 World Bank estimate, 41% of India falls below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 a day (PPP, in nominal terms 21.6 a day in urban areas and 14.3 in rural areas); having reduced from 60% in 1981.[2]
The Govt. is taking steps to remove poverty..we have been hearing this from many years. But till date nothing has changed. If people want to see changes around them then they have to be the change themselves. Only if people change their attitude towars each other & other sections of the society then only we will be able to help each other.
If hunger is addressed half the poverty issues are taken care off.As of now there are 240 million or so go to sleep with one square meals only. This can be tackled by sensitization by each and every Indian by contributing 10% of their income and distributing the same to their choice.
Key to elimination of poverty is to provide jobs to atleast one person in family. It is a pragmatic solution.
Lot needs to be done to develop infrastructure of the country, therefore there is definitely scope for "Right to Employment".
If needed, free vocational training can be imparted to train people for jobs. Charity from well-to-do people can also help provide food and basic amenities to poor till the goal of employment to all is realized.
The problem of poverty arise because people see themselves as individuals rather than part of a group. It is well known that if everybody works together towards one goal that it is far more likely to succeed than if everybody works on their own goals. What happens instead is that everybody competes for money and to be able to make a living, and as a result only a few are very rich. The only thing that will really be of lasting value is if everybody realize the value of others and makes every bodies' riches and poverty their own, not in a forced way like communism (which fails because people stay greedy), but in the way family does.
We should oppose corruption of government system, because at present at least 50% money of development is miss used by govt officials. As a result , development is very slow.

Poverty is a major issue throughout our country that needs to be changed immediately. We all whether upper, middle or lower class co-exist in the same country. We all live to help one another develop educationally, mentally ,financially. So to live in a country where we shame those who make lower incomes. I view poverty as a disease that needs to be eliminated entirely. And as an evolving society we must realize that until we fix the issues right in our backyards. We will never reach that feeling of self-actualization. Allowing us to always feel broken and insecure and dissatisfied with the lives that we…

Many people do not care about the ominous issue that is poverty. They think that since they are not the ones living in poverty, that they are not affected by it. While that strategy of thinking is immoral, it is also incorrect. When poverty exists in a community, issues arise from unlikely places. Poverty is a very large cause of one thing out of many: social tensions throughout a nation. When people are suffering from a lack of jobs and income, a large divide can become apparent. This can cause riots and revolts similar to those in Middle Eastern countries, which all sprung from a large amount of poverty in the area and a low amount of jobs. Poverty can also deteriorate a middle class. Recently, in Western countries, the middle class is starting…

Poverty is a complex problem that is easily understood but hard to solve. We understand that on the global scale, poverty rate is on a decline as a result of economic development that lifts millions of people out of the poverty trap. In fact, the World Bank estimated that people living on less than $1.25 a day dropped by from 1.8 billion to 1.4 billion between 1995 and 2005. Although this is a remarkable gain, it shall not understate that more than 1 billion people are still living in extreme poverty. So, there remains much work to be done to solve poverty and it helps to think of the issue in terms of the following frameworks.…

The reality of poverty is a silent Killer that is ignored by most but by opening our eyes and taking a stand against poverty we can live in a poverty free world. “In addition, the government isn’t doing as much as they should be but in America it’s helping people stay in a home when they lose it all such as president Obama has set an act that provides income support but still there are still 45 million people living in poverty who can’t get access to these benefits” (U.S. Poverty and Inequality). Furthermore, some might say that people living in poverty are in poverty because they chose to be poor. Many rich people said that all poor people should work or look for a job that helps them live better or their lazy to work. “Rich people say that because they realized that every person that is rich has worked hard to be rich, they also realized that if poor people start to work hard like they did they wouldn’t live in poverty” (Counter Argument Poverty). As many people say people are poor because they chose to be poor, rich people think this because all the successful people think that everyone’s life is the same as theirs but it’s not true because when someone is born in poverty they spend most of their life in poverty, and their adult life. “In addition, the cause of…

India is a massive nation with immense resources. An interesting fact highlighted by Ejaz Ghani is that “if income in India was distributed completely equally, the entire nation would still be living on less than half the UK poverty line. (The UK poverty line is a relative line: you’re poor in the UK when your income after tax is below 60% of the national median)”. [Statistics on poverty in India] The government of India practices a rather different method for calculating the poverty rate. They believe that a person consumes food nutrition which varies from 2000-2500 calories per day to sustain their body. So, an individual who is not earning…
