Group activity – Amy Egginton(Training Support),Glen McAdoo(Training Support), Stephen Squire and Derick Anderson
For this observation I have brought together the three units that have made up the course to show what understanding and skills each learner has gained from the programme. about problem solving, working in a team and Time management
The Activity
As a group we recapped problem solving, working in a team and time management to refresh the learners of the knowledge they had gained and we discussed how this could be put in to practice in a working simulation. I explained to the group while giving them an instruction sheet(E2a) that they were going to work on an assembly line making paper aeroplanes, but first they had 2 minutes to build a plane of their own.
I then gave the group 10 minutes to read the instructions through and decide who was going to take on the role of team leader, what role other members were going to do and a strategy. After the time was up I explained that they had a further 10 minutes to produce as many planes as possible.
Observation 1
While observing the group it became obvious that they had not listened to the instructions that I had given them as each member was concentrating on how many planes they could complete on their own. I stopped the task before the allotted time to again instruct the group on what it was they were to do. The group then gave the task another go.
