Based on the cons provided previously, boring activities is a part of most jobs. When boredom begins to outpace excitement at work, you know you have a problem. Boredom can sometimes be a persistent problem that affects all aspects of our lives. If that’s the case, you may need to seek professional counseling. There are some practical suggestions for the employees in the company to make changes that will reduce and even eliminate boredom at work and in your personal life (Morley D.Glicken, 2013).
Firstly, seek advice from others who aren’t bored on the job and apply what they tell you with caution. If there is a person have pretty passion and feel interesting with his work, you should consult him and ask whether how he motivate himself in the same work environment. According to Ilan Yaniv, seeking advice is a basic practice in making real life decisions. A major motivation for seeking advice is the need to improve judgment accuracy and the expectation that advice will help. As the Google employee cannot judge accurately about their ways to reduce boringness during the work, they should go ask others’ opinions.
Next, seek training to give you more skills to apply at work that could lead to different work assignments and focus on fun, novel approaches in training. The employees can multitask by gaining additional skills in different departments, and at the same time it also can improve self-knowledge and having fun within it. According to Steven Boller, games are effective for learning. Linking games with training can increase the feeling of ‘fun’ and improve employees’ motivation. This can lead to retention.
Other than that, you can be volunteer for everything that may make your job more interesting and exciting, it would improve the relationship between you and other colleagues.
