Receiver Strength Analysis
I believe that my includer strength describes me the best. I feel uncomfortable in exclusive groups and I consider myself to be a very open and welcoming individual. I particularly agreed with the assessment that I “actively avoid those groups that exclude others”. I’ve never wanted to be in a sorority because they appeared so closed off and exclusive, and now I see that this feeling comes from my need to be inclusive. In addition to being an includer, I use my adaptability strength frequently. I am never set on one goal or one vision for my future and I prefer to live one day at a time and see where life takes me. I also do not mind surprises because they make my life interesting and unique. Out of all my strengths, my achiever strength surprised me the most. …show more content…
While I do enjoy challenges, I disagree that I feel “dissatisfied” if I do not finish my tasks and that I “must achieve something tangible in order to feel good about [my]self”. I appreciate downtime and relaxing so I find it hard to relate to those aspects of the achiever strength. My SWOT analysis somewhat fits with my Signature Themes. For example, I listed emotional intelligence and leadership as some of my strengths, and my Signature Themes included empathy and developer, which correlate with my self-identified strengths. In contrast, I listed procrastination as one of my weaknesses when achiever is apparently one of my strengths. While I can achieve even though I procrastinate, those two habits of mine seem to fight each other. As I search for internships, I expect to use my adaptability strength to approach new situations with an open mind and to be flexible when it comes to working in a new position. I could also use my achiever strength to be persistent in my search for an internship and not give up until I reach my

The Seven Habits Profile revealed that I rank as outstanding in two categories, very good in six categories, and good in just one category. This seems to highlight what I am most exemplary at in terms of leadership, what I am just proficient at, and what presents itself as an opportunity for improvement. The main two strengths include having a work-life balance and being a proactive problem solver. An area of opportunity as indicated by the profile would be having the ability to synergize which is a combination of seeking the views of others and making creative decisions. The two strengths point to qualities I have constantly tried to improve upon. Earlier in my career, I was a bit of a workaholic and tended to bring work home with me. This resulted in a dismal personal life which eventually permeated negativity into my professional life as well. In light of that, over the years I have created rules for myself to remedy that initial error and in doing so this has become one of my strengths. My other strength, being proactive, stems from the lack of this quality in my current career field. More often than not it is more imperative to be reactive in my line of work. To set myself above the rest I decided early on in my career to work on being both, as being reactive is just as important as being proactive in…

After completing the StregthsQuest survey, I learned that my five greatest strengths are Harmony, Competition, Achiever, Includer, and Communication. Some of these strengths I had previously recognized as a strength, but a few were a surprise to me. Growing up, I was always a competitive person. I enjoyed the thrill of winning, whether it be in a team effort or individual effort. Also, I have always wanted to achieve great things in both my personal and professional life. I believe that I have always been great at communicating with others and love to include others in everything that I do to achieve a goal. The biggest strength of mine that surprised me most was Harmony. However, after reading about each strength, I know how I have utilized…

My top five strengths for the strength finder test were deliberate, adaptability, maximize arranger, and consistency. For once I can say I’m actually satisfied with a computerized test about myself. One thing I can say about my results from this strength finder it’s a lot more accurate when it comes to the qualities I posses. My results do not match up close to previous held beliefs about myself. I am typically seen as the kind of person to play the leadership role in just about anything. The point of view from others of me being a leader is completely off, I feel the complete opposite. I am more of an observer, and I learn from not only the mistakes of others, but mine as well. The vocal portion of leadership is what I am not too fond. I could lead with actions, but vocally I’m not as sharp. Not only that, but I generally go off simply instincts, and not what is planned. Maximizing my strengths can happen in various ways. Arranger is a strength that can be maximized by more preparation and better using more time for organization. I believe there’s no such thing as being over prepared. Adaptability is a strength I could improvise on by being aware with a lot more situations so when the time comes I will be able to adapt in the best way possible. All of the strengths of mine can be maximized by me realizing what makes that strength of mine and not focusing on my weaknesses. The more I focus on my weaknesses the more ill back track. An individual cannot build performance on weaknesses, but one can on strength. Majority of the fields in business best suit my strengths. In a business environment consistency is huge. The more consistent person gains the most respect. The more consistent you are, the more reliable you’ll be seen as. If you’re seen as more reliable by your co workers they’ll enjoy your presence. Blind spots may result from overextending the maximize strength. You can by overextending the maximize strength by simply over…

I am an achiever. There is almost nothing more important to me than having a strong work ethic, not only in a work environment, but also finding a way to include it in my everyday life. I strongly believe that hard work pays off, and there isn’t anything I am not capable of doing as long as I give it my best. First off, my first job was working at a small Italian restaurant when I was only fifteen years old, and I could only keep the job at that age if I got a waiver from my school counselor showing that I was still doing well in my studies. I did my best to manage going to high school, playing soccer, and still finding the energy to show up to work in the evenings. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me a sense of accomplishment at a young age. I remember having to work the overnight shift doing inventory at my second job during my senior year, and still somehow I found the energy to study and make it to school on time. Secondly, I started working at a restaurant equipment store after high school, having been given the title of “receptionist”, only to find out that the job would include much more than just the general office duties that usually come along with this type of position. Not only was I responsible for completing my work that came along with the job, but also to be a personal assistant to the every need of the business owner. At one point I even found myself taking his mother home from an unexpected trip to the emergency room after a routine check-up. My boss and her other children were unfortunately too busy, and I felt responsible for making sure that she had someone there for her. One last example of being an achiever is my dedication and punctuality when it comes to having a job. I do not believe in…

    Clifton Strengths Finder

In many cases, people find it difficult to label or categorize their natural talent. Because one is unaware of their natural talents, he or she experiences. During Gallup’s research on identifying talents, they discovered Throughout the course of Clifton’s work on studying talents, they discovered that the majority of people do not have careers that purse their natural talents (Rath, 2007). Out of 10 million people they surveyed, 7 million people were not engaged at work. When these individuals were not able to use their strengths they reported to dread going to work, have more negative than positive interactions with colleagues, treat customers poorly, tell friends what a miserable company they work for, achieve less on a daily basis, and have fewer positive, creative moments in the workplace (2007). To fix these problems, Clifton created a measuring tool in 1999 to categorize and identify talents. First, Clifton wanted to base his research on what is right with people instead of one’s weakness. Based upon previous tests, Clifton started studying work environments and how measuring one’s raw talents could be developed into strengths. He states that a talent is a “naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling, or behavior that can be productively applied” (Harter, Hodges & Lopez, 2005). Next, he states that strength is an extension of a talent. In other words, if one has the gift of communicating well, then with practice, he can develop his talent for talking into a personal strength such as public speaking.…

Includer and Strategic are most important to me and I use all of my strengths every day but I did know before about my strengths until we took the assessment in our FYS class. Includer is the big one to me because I like to accept all of the people around me and I show awareness those who feel like they are left out. I use strategic every day because I always think about the outcomes that are going to lead my decision. I do not like taking those paths that are going to take me nowhere. When I have multiple options to one solution, I quickly assess the situation, choose a few possible options, and then strike with a decision on the best option. I use Leaner to learn something new and use the information in future. I use Communication to put…
