Rebels Motorcycle Club
Forty-four years ago in a hotel in Brisbane, a group of 'bikies' who'd been riding/building bikes together got serious about starting a club. The Rebels motorcycle club was founded by Clint Jacks in Brisbane, Queensland in 1969 and was originally named the "Confederates". Their first meeting was in Indooroopilly but there was a blue at the pub and the meeting was never finished. At the second meeting, the drawings, badges/logos, rules, etc. were finalised. The first President, Clint Jacks helped make the badge based on his love of skulls and swastikas.
Some time later a Chapter of the Club started in Dubbo, followed by one in Rockhampton and so on. From these beginnings grew the biggest Outlaw Motorcycle Club in Australia.

This group has been around for a long time, starting trouble all over the United States and other countries. They have done everything from drug trafficking to assault; this gang is no one to mess with. During the 1960s around the time of the world wars this group of individuals was considered a militant group. Now they are considered a dangerous motorcycle gang to stay away from.…

The gang's genesis dates to 1960, with a South Side gang called the Devil's Disciples had become sufficiently large to warrant being given an outreach worker by the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago Youth Services (source: Chicago Historical Society). The Devil's Disciples were mostly male African-Americans, 15-18 years of age, frequenting the intersection of 53rd St. and Kimbark Ave., and operated from 53rd and Woodlawn to 49th St. and Dorchester Ave. In the early 1960s this gang known as the Devils Disciples became the "Black Disciples" (see Explosion of Chicago's Black Street Gangs: 1900 to Present, 1990, by Useni Perkins). The three major players in the Devils Disciples were David Barksdale, Shorty Freeman, and Don Derky.…

In 1919 World War I had come to an end. Ten years later the stock market crashed throwing the United States into a Great Depression. The time period in between was a time that was classified by a boom in the economy and prohibition legalized by the eighteenth amendment. This amendment had lead to an increase of organized crime nationwide. In that time span of these two prominent moments in American history was one of the most scandalous presidencies in American history. It came from no other than Ohioan Warren G. Harding.…

The Red Brigades were founded by college student Renato Curcio in 1969 to battle "against the imperialist state of the multinationals." At first, the fledgling organization restricted its activities to small acts of vandalism and arson. However, in 1972, they abducted business executive Idalgo Macchiarini, releasing him a short time later with a sign that said, "Hit one to educate 100. Power to the armed populace." The Red Brigades kidnapped several other executives in the years following.…

    Harley Davidson

Harley Davidson Inc is the leading motorcycle company in the United States, with an approximate 46% market share. It derives its revenue from the sale of motorcycles to dealers, the sales of parts and Harley Davidson accessories, and the financing of approximately 53% of its U. S. Consumer motorcycle purchases. Harley Davidson stock sold for P12.70 per share in late March 2009, down from a high of $70 in October 2007. Harley Davidson like manufacturers of big-ticket items has been hurt by the U.S. recession and the securitization liquidity crisis. Harley Davidson’s 2008 Annual Report refers to two major lawsuits, the claims of which Harley Davidson vigorously contests and which Harley Davidson has asked the courts to dismiss. These lawsuits deal with the year 2004 through April 2005, and the complaints are based on interviews with more than twenty confidential witnesses who worked for Harley Davidson. The lawsuit allege that Harley Davidson engaged in channel stuffing to inflate the sales of its motorcycles to its dealers and Harley Davidson Financial Services lowered its consumer underwriting standards to make loans to people who ordinarily would not qualify, artificially boosting its sales to meet Wall Street expectations. In effect, the lawsuits accuse Harley Davidson of making sub-prime motorcycle loans and increasing substantially the percentage of such loans in order to meet earnings estimates. Harley Davidson denies all allegations. The lawsuits further allege that there was substantial insider selling of stock while these activities were going on.…

Is there always a question you get asked but have no idea how to answer? One question that just about all motorcycle riders struggle to answer, is “why?” The question is almost inevitable and always followed by some horrific motorcycle accident that some person’s ex-brother-in-law's best friend was in. When it does come about, the answer always comes to mind immediately. Yet right when it is about to roll off the tongue, a blank is drawn and then an “uhh” or “well” results. After some wandering eyes and a bit of pondering, an idiotic and ineffective generalization such as “well, it’s fun” normally follows. It is an answer that never really seems suitable or fitting to describe what we, riders of motorcycles, do, but undoubtedly the most common of them all.…

The Harley Owners Group or HOG is a factory sponsored motorcycle enthusiast club established in 1983. Its main aim was to negate the influence of outlaw bike-gangs as the face of the Harley Davidson brand and enhance the lifestyle experience of a Harley Davidson owner. This was the roadmap of the firm’s broad philosophy of getting close to the customer. There was a great need to address two main issues with respect to the brand.…

All these clubs had to be registered but after the 1940’s incident in Hollister, California where the small percentage of biker society was blamed for the terrible and violent disturbance, many of these registered clubs broke away and made their own outlaw clubs, the most notorious being the Hell’s Angels (Wheeler, [S.a]). In their own way they rebelled against authority, acting out to shock people. An example of this type of behaviour can be seen in Figure 1, where two bikers are locked in a passionate kiss, something not deemed appropriate in those…
