For example, women in The Kardashian gossip, backstab and behave aggressively, condescending and catty toward one another. The expression of relational aggression between females seen across several reality shows gives girls the idea. that gossiping is a normal part of a female relationship, that it’s in girls’ natures to be divisive and competitive with one another, and that being mean earns respect and is often necessary to get what you want. How could The kardashians influence the audience of how they act and respect each others as loved ones, or how to treat their kids when they grow up? As Jennifer Pozner states in the book “Real love involves a foundation of respect, honesty, and trust, concepts wholly missing from the pale imitations hawked to us by the folks who script 'unscripted' entertainment.” This means one of the most important things to the Kardashians is what others think of them. They care so much about their looks. They wear so much makeup and get so many plastic surgeries. Kim was reported to have had a nose job, botox, and breast and bottom implants. Which teaches teens/women that they think it's easy to get implants etc. So this is why reality tv shows is a bad influence for our youth and young girls that watch this show and want to be her.The attitude of both Kim Kardashian and Kanye West is despicable. Reality TV has unseen effects and is detrimental to society. Reality TV is the current trend on TV that has brought back the buzz to television, but it also has unforeseen effects on its viewers. Some examples of Reality TV shows include: American Idol, The Bachelorette, Americas next top model, fear factor, etc...These shows range from singing talents, overcome their fears, to looks and beauty. Interestingly, all the parents I surveyed watched reality TV with their children, varying in frequency from ?sometimes? to ?all the time.? Foremost among their concerns were the following: projection of values and language used; exposure to sex and violence; wrong impressions given regarding love and relationships; behaving ?over the top?; encouragement of voyeurism and public display of areas in life that should remain private.…

I can remember when I was younger, coming home from school into the house to change clothes and head back out the door to play. Any entertainment I received was what I experienced outside. When I came into the house, I was able to watch very little television. The most television I was able to watch was on Saturday mornings and it was cartoons. Today, the young and old come home and the first thing they do is turn on the television set. According to a survey done by Emory H. Woodard and Natalia Grindina, “on average, people are watching over 51 hours of television- that is five hours a day of TV on average for the last quarter of the year. Teenagers (12 to 17) spend 103 hours watching TV a month, whereas senior citizens (65 or older) spend 207 hours”(Media in the home) With the slumping economy, people are forced to stay at home to conserve resources. Although there are plenty of economical alternatives people could do, the world would much rather increase their television watching.…

Young women see the Kardashians focus only on appearance and how their popularity is derived from beauty. Many young women are considering plastic surgery to help enhance their skin’s appearance, so that men can find them more interesting. Reality stars try to get on TV shows so that they can become famous, to get noticed, and to make easy money. What they do not realize is that their lives are out there for the world to see and that every move they are making is judged by so many people. Just like in the reality show Jersey Shore they all do very immature things such as, drink all the time, they don’t have real jobs, they get arrested for being intoxicated and being a nuisance in public. Although this can be an easy way to make money they don’t have the decency to act like the “adults” they think they are. They don’t think about how their families can see how they act on TV and how it can be a bit embarrassing, how it can really change the way they think of them, if they have children that they can see how their parents acted or how they are acting. They think that causing drama and making a scene will make them famous, when really they just make themselves look irresponsible, careless, and reckless. They never consider that they can’t live off this forever and even though some of them try to and start up other businesses from the shows such as starting clothing lines, making perfumes and makeup they do that it might not work and that people and mostly young…

"The real" in reality programming is a highly flexible concept. Rather than solely relying upon the use of actual documentary or "live" footage for its credibility, reality programming often draws upon a mix of acting, news footage, interviews and re-creations in a highly simulated pretense towards the "real." Admittedly, mainstream television news is also involved in the recreation of reality, rather than simply recording actual events. And yet, "reality" is dramatized on reality programming to an extent quite unlike conventional television news, and this dramatization is often geared towards more promotional, rather than informational, ends. The truth of the matter is that reality shows are all fundamentally real at their core, but with most programming – producers know that viewership is key to securing the corporate sponsorships. High viewership leads to more corporate sponsors, more corporate sponsors means more money, more money means more profits for all involved in the production. So, since viewership is key, sometimes they extort or beef up ‘reality’ to make it more interesting, or it has to be ‘planned reality’ because of the numerous legalities and logistics surrounding taping.…

On January 24 2011 I attended the Presentation given by Jennifer Pozner. This presentation was called “Project Brainwash: Why reality TV is bad for women”. Project Brainwash focuses on how reality TV shows are maintaining stereotypes that society has created for women. Although many of us believe reality TV is just mindless fun, Pozner points out that many of the shows are portraying women badly and making them conform to society’s beliefs of what a woman should be like.…

It seems that almost everywhere you turn, the Kardashian family is making gossip news headlines. This may lead one to several questions, such as: "Is this family famous for anything substantial"? "Is society setting a bad example in such that if you are rich or beautiful then you really do not need to aspire to much in order to do well in life"? Some people may argue that the Kardashians are "clueless"- that they have no particular skills, or even much sense, and that the only thing that they really have going for them is their appearance and their scripted reality television show Keeping up with the Kardashians. These same people may say that soon the Kardashian's "15 minutes of fame" will expire, and they will have nothing left to fall back…

In the world we are currently living in, it is impossible not to have heard about the infamous Kardashians and the incessant drama and affairs surrounding their glamorous and seemingly ideal lifestyle. Unless one decides to switch off all sorts of media, be it social networks or the regular print media, there is very little chance you wouldn’t come upon a story involving or related to a member of the multi-millionaire family at least once per day. They have successfully managed to occupy almost every media platform and to turn their everyday problems into sensational headlines. In the meanwhile, they are generating millions of profit through their well-known reality TV show – Keeping up with the Kardashians which is now up for its 12th season, their merchandise, make-up and clothing brands, mobile apps, continuous TV appearances, social media accounts and many more initiatives of all sorts. But the Kardashians are not simply just another notoriously rich family who is exposing every bit of their life to the public. They have become so universally influential during the past couple of years it could easily be considered that their presence is more or less hegemonic in today’s contemporary world and mostly for the younger generation who is growing up watching them at…
