Introduction
Reading is the primary avenue to knowledge. To advance in knowledge, one must forever learn more, study more, reason more. Reading helps to accomplish this. It is the most important task of learning, and all lessons in school need reading. As one goes up the ladder of education, one has to learn extensively in order to improve his level of achievement. This gives a better chance to one who reads well to succeed in school work, over one who cannot. A pupil who has developed the basic skills in reading through good reading habits loves to read well. He is dependent, well informed, and eventually becomes a better citizen. Having good reading practices and habits makes reading successful, thus, success in reading is success in school, and success in future life.

And I totally agree with him, but those 30 minutes felt like hours to me, and I was just too tempted to do almost anything…

Reading and writing also encourages us to think. We introduce to the concept of reading at a very early age. It remains with us in different forms throughout our life. It is very important to instill the habit of reading right from childhood. You can put in children, the habit of reading bedtime stories. Reading during the early years helps the child in improving his/her language skills. When children learn to recognize written words, it enables them to mock the words and then is able to write. Avid readers and writers are also better at processing information faster than those who read less. The research presented by the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology proves that poor readers have poorer short-memory functions. Reading has at all times and in all ages been a source of knowledge, of happiness, of pleasure, and even moral courage. My stories have provided a personal library for me to remember everything I learn, experience, and encounter in my life, and how to overcome some obstacles. Through the years I have found that no matter what I read, the act of reading every day has helped me in nearly every aspect of my life.…

Personally, I love to read biographies of great men, especially, those who, through the exercise of their mental abilities, rose from almost nothing to enviable great heights in life. Be they blacks or whites, I have come to discover, in most cases, that the knowledge such people caught through books was the fundamental resource that empowered them to magnify their lives, multiply the ways in which they lived, making their lives full, phenomenal and interesting (Carson 1992). From every confirmation, most of them bagged assorted certificates. However, certificates were not the motivating factor that spurred them to read books in such manner that transformed them into great assets. Rather, they read books primarily for self-discovery and acquisition of useful knowledge, which they appropriated and applied in their daily lives. The books they read and they manner in which they read them served to strengthen, refine and ennoble their characters, giving them prized places in the affairs of life. Such door of strength and exploits in the affairs of life is still open to any person that musters the discipline to cultivate a good reading habit!…

When we think of habits we often times think of those negative nagging things we do that we don't want to, or know we shouldn't. But, believe it or not there are such things as 'good' habits things that enhance your life, sharpen your mind, and bring fulfillment every time they are successfully carried out. I believe that reading is one of those habits that if developed in a persons life will bring great satisfaction, and sense of accomplishment to the reader. Two things to note: 1) A reading habit is 'developed' it doesn't happen over night. 2) They say it takes 6 weeks to develop a lasting habit, but only two to break it (that doesn't refer to addictions, but to habits).…
