s Reading Change Lives?

If reading changes lives what happens to the people who are illiterate?
There are many things in life that you have to read you can’t look any way without seeing words reading is so apart of the world it’s impossible to survive in the world without learning how to read. If George Washington didn’t know how to read how would he have been able to lead the patriots into battle, no, he wouldn't have been able to George Washington had to create and direct troops and lead them into battle, he would not have been able to become president I doubt he would've been able to get into the army let alone general a main point .of being a general is to strategize and strategizing without understanding what the other officers are talking about wouldn't even be a option. As our first president once said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” “People are curious, people are drawn to the mysterious, and people loves uncovering things.” Said by Trinemae. That is one of the many reasons people read, we read

My earliest memory of reading or writing is these old learning books that I used to read in preschool. My mom used to make me read them over and over to ingrain the information in my head; they ranged from the stars to ancient pharaohs and gave me a better background and understanding before I went to school. I used to hate reading but it slowly increased my interest and seemed to give me a better reading ability and I’ve kept the interest since then. During elementary school, we had to read a book a month, to keep ourselves reading, even though, most students dreaded it. It was often difficult to find a book I enjoyed, but when I did I read the entire book in just a few days. My peers tended to be a negative impact on my literacy because they would often joke that I was a nerd for reading, which would make me want to stray away from books.…

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

Everyday, schools require students to read. Mostly with a goal system or a treat in return for reading. So no matter what, unless you can’t get an education, you’ve most likely read a book before. But an important question brought up between people is “can reading change someone?”. My answer to this question is “well, probably not instantly”. While reading most likely will not change a person, reading select books can influence some of the reader’s actions and beliefs.…

Although there is much I can’t recall from my early days of reading, there are some momentous flashbacks. When I was beginning elementary school my parents were very eager to introduce me to doing a great deal of reading, they wanted me to enjoy reading for a while and they succeeded. We lived within walking distance of the public library which allowed us to frequently visit the library to read and check out books. I always remembered the vast shelves of books that seemed like they never had an end. In addition to reading at the library we checked books out to bring home to read, this allowed me to read as much as I wanted to. Correspondent to the amount of reading I did, the more I enjoyed it and improved at reading.…

The first time that I read a book that I truly enjoyed was given to me by my 6th grade reading and writing teacher Mrs. Forristall. Before I had Mrs. Forristall as a teacher, I dreaded going to an english class because I never understood what the point of it all was. My question was always “What is the point of reading if I don’t comprehend it and I don’t like it? My 6th grade teacher changed my perspective on it all. I now love reading books, I love the way that I connect to characters or the author, and I love the way I get into the storyline as a reader, all thanks to Mrs. Forristall.…

Reading should be enjoyable and engaging. There is nothing like great books that you cant seem to put down. The books that make you happy, sad, laugh, cry, and the ones that make you stop and think, maybe even reread. When students are given the chance to pick out their own books and read what interests them, they are more motivated than if it was a text they had little to no interest…

Over the years, my interest and awareness regarding reading and writing have varied from time to time. I remember my mother reading bedtime stories to me as a child and actually painting my personal pictures to what she was saying. Once I was old enough to read the stories myself, I would go back and compare my mental pictures with those that were in the book. During my elementary days, I found the novice level of reading and writing to still be interesting. Everything from transferring imaginary stories I had thought of onto a sheet of paper to tell the entire class about my church league team winning the basketball championship the previous Saturday, I thoroughly enjoyed writing and felt I had a personal connection to it.…

How could someone not love reading? I thought. I would open a book and see worlds created by the words in them. The only thing that could be more amazing than that was –and still is– the fact that at one point, someone sat down, put these words together, and created these worlds. Cue twelve-year-old mind being blown.…
