Scott Adams shares with us the ideal framework for an entrepreneurial curriculum. In his article How to Get a Real Education, he reinforces the fact that the whole is far greater than the sum of these parts, especially in the context of an entrepreneur. Adams tells us of a couple stories from when he was in college and how he used the skills of an entrepreneur to become successful. He saw opportunities, sometimes embedded within problems, and worked them to his favor. This is what he referred to when speaking of the learned skill of transforming “nothing into something”, which is a skill that obviously applies to business. His basic idea is that much academic-oriented education is wasted on many people. Scott says these people would instead profit from a much more skills-oriented education, “something useful, like entrepreneurship”. Adams is essentially informing these college students on how to make the most out of their schooling and what skills are needed to do so.…

There are so many concepts to learn in this book that it’s hard to pull one message that is most important for me. However, in my case, I don’t have the mind of an entrepreneur so when picking the most important message I can drop the ideas that are simply for entrepreneurs. It’s important to not throw them out completely as I would still say there were plenty of important details throughout his book. Also it can be noted that he does a terrific job at giving advice for students and I was surprised at just how the book was geared to people my age. His messages are being taken seriously by me as well because of his credibility. His has had extensive experience working in very creative environments which is back up to all of the knowledge he shares. The overall concept that I enjoyed the most was his advice for people coming out of college and looking at first jobs. I liked that he brought up myths about what employers look for in resumes and he used interviews with current employers. It really gives a sense of what current companies look for. The most important message I thought came from the end. Kawasaki supplied his hindsights for life. Why is this the most important message for me? It comes from his real life experiences. They are battle tested opinions that can be agreed with or not agreed with. I…

Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Hanging of the Mouse”, places animals in the roles of humans in reference to an execution. The writer uses animals to replace humans to possibly convey a message or point of view towards the death penalty. In the story, the mouse is being executed for what we believe is some sort of crime. It isn’t clear whether or not the mouse actually committed a crime, but we are led to believe that an act occurred in which caused the mouse to be executed on this particular day.…

I like this movie. If you like documentaries, it would be a great movie to watch. Also, if you like businesses, and the way it is managed, then this movie will be enjoyable. There are lots of scenes where we can look back at ourselves and think what we have done in our life; what kind of obstacles we have overcome and what kind of efforts we put in to overcome the obstacles. The main characters, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne are the people who made a great company, starting in a garage. They made tremendous effort and took a lot of risks to make their dream come true. Here are three reasons why you should watch this movie.…

It was an exciting day because of the basketball game held last January 28 2012 in Mapua’s gymnasium. The game was in accordance with the commemoration of the founding anniversary of the institute. It was a fight between the present Mapua basketball players and the ex-cardinals. It was a game between yellow team and red team. The yellow team was composed of Madrid, Palomique, Espinosa, Cinco, Alcantara, and Sta. Maria. The red team who were the Mapua Cardinals include Jimenez, Ranises, Pascual, Mazo, Bernales, Guillermo, Co, and Del Rosario. It was an exciting game from the first to the last quarter of the game. Each team has the determination to win especially the Mapua Cardinals when they struggle to earn more points in the two last quarters of the game. The red team had a hard time in the first two quarters of the game but they instantly regain their lead as one of the team shot three-points. There was also an instance wherein the team amazingly got two consecutive three-points which enables them to a one point lead. The last minute of the game gave us the turning point of the story where the ex-cardinals (now struggling to get points), show an intense game play but failed to get any points. The Mapua Cardinals (red team) win by the score, 119-118.…

Held on May 15 of every year, the Pahiyas Festival is carried out to give thanks to San Isidro Labrador for the good harvest. It is one of the country’s oldest festivals tracing its origin way back to the 16th century. Back then, farmers bought food to the foot of Mt. Banahaw as a sign of Thanksgiving, but eventually this tradition — done in the hopes of having a good harvest year — was modified to make the church the central offering place.…
