HIV REACTION PAPER

HIV (Si Heidi, si Ivy at si Vanessa). This was the film we watch last December 16, 2012. Having a
Great actor, Jake Cuenca who played as Virgilio Gil Bustamante beautifies the movie seeing him.
This film is another campaign material of the Department of Health (DOH) to disseminate information on the prevention of HIV and AIDS to our country. Simply, to inform us how these viruses affect our immune system.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV is a lent virus that causes required immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a conditions in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers. This disease can lead to death but there are drugs that can longer the life of a person who is infected with this kind of viruses. That drug is the Antiretroviral drugs (ARV), this are medications for the treatment of infection by the retroviruses, primarily HIV.
At first, Gil Bustamante is inspired doing that project; he faced many challenges just to run that film. But not all story ends up with a happy ending, Heidi died; Ivy didn’t finish helping Bustamante to run the film while Vanessa gets beaten by a band of thugs while crossing the streets. And facing her own weakness/fear, Gil Bustamante a HIV positive. The story ends when he revealed that he is also a victim of that virus. The disease made me realize the latter part of the movie.

It is a shocking moment for us knowing that Gil Bustamante is a positive, we thought that he is only the portraying a character that is a filmmaker.

The plot of the story was great. Characters portrayed their role very well, well done actors and actresses. The flow of the story is amazing because you don’t know what would be the next scene or what would be the ending. It will be an eye-opener to everyone that having these viruses or infected by these viruses means the end of your life. It will inform us that the fight against HIV/AIDS is not solely the

This film is an awesome piece of art. It is incredible the way it is possible to transmit a huge and powerful message in just an hour and forty minutes. From this, people may learn to appreciate what they have, talking about the ones who enjoy of legal status, because sometimes they do not realize others would love to have the chances they have only because of a “legal citizenship status.” The best fact about this film is the way the author portrayed reality in life. Most of the time people is used to witness a happy ending, but this was not the case. Veliz knew exactly how to portray a reality that many people do not like to realize. As well, several key quotes or phrases he used helped to enhance the meaning of this story as when they said “Nomas por los coyotes en la colina, no vamos a dejar de criar gallinas.” This gave the message of realizing that, after all, troubles are part of life, so people must learn to deal with it and do not give up. Moreover, the…

This musical has helped many people in the past to educate themselves about HIV and AIDS. In our current society, HIV/AIDS is widely known and scientists are still working on a cure. There are precautions to have when becoming sexually active with someone who is diagnosed as HIV/AIDS, but I have not experienced any discrimination within my community against these people. In India, however, they are still fighting for equal rights for people who are HIV positive, as there is a ban for discrimination in the workplace, education system, professional business place and more for people who have HIV/AIDS (Suri). This is a step closer to this disease becoming globally accepted, and it will make our world a more accepting place to live…

In the opening of the movie, it shows what the early life of Garcia Lorca was like and how society disliked his work because he wrote about topics that were out of people’s comfort zones at the time. It clearly depicted his works as we see a version of “Yerma” in which women are delivering an aesthetic long and angry speech of criticism. We see vividly see people’s discomfort in this expressionistic play in the movie as the journalist (also narrator portrayed by Esai Morales) Ricardo is at one of Lorca’s shows and the people in the crowd start to stand up in outrage and try boo the actors off the stage. However, it also shows Lorca’s head strong manner as he tells them to continue the show and also show people adoring his work by standing in ovation.…

The movie sin nombre was one of those few movies we americans watch that makes us go what the?. I mean what when’s the last time you’ve watch a movie where the newly formed quote unquote “good guy” died..You can’t remember right case closed. One thing I like about this movie is how it snaps you back in reality, it does the very opposite of what hollywood does. Where hollywood would take a once bad guy, turn him into a fan favorite baby face and have him save the day at the end with the hot girl beside him mexican cinema gives us the sort the more realistic version not all that real but sort of the once “bad guy” redeemed himself by killing the evil guy, saving the cute girl's life, she falls for him, than he's chased and they get separated and he dies “real”.…

The AIDS epidemic struck ten years before my birth, so it isn’t a topic I knew much about. It was mentioned in health classes throughout schooling, as a reminder to be careful around other students, as you do not know if they carry a bug that could hurt you. As far as I remember, we just equated this warning to cooties. This film, based on the book, And The Band Played On, by Randy Shilts, has opened my eyes to world of public health, epidemiology, and the world’s reaction to an unknown health issue, publically, scientifically, and politically.…
