Reaction Paper About K-12 Program
K-12 Program, or basically known as "Kindergarten to Grade 12" program is a curriculum launched by the Department of Education which will be first implemented in the next school year. It's primary purpose is to be one with the educational curriculum of other countries especially in the Southeast Asian neighbors. It is also a preparation for the upcoming ASEAN integration. Another purpose of K-12, is for the common Filipinos to have a quality education that would help them to uplift their loving status, as we all know that the last two years of the curriculum will be spent in TESDA-accredited programs. In this case, students who can't afford to study in the tertiary level would still have a chance to have a decent job because of his/her skills …show more content…
Because our country is not ready to this program primarily the DepEd they have a trouble to handle such a big change in education curriculum. But on the other side, if handled very well by the officials and is given the right attention, sooner the Philippines will be able to produce competitive students as what they are aiming to have. we must first look for the benefits before we look at the negative sides since k-12 has a good chance for us to be globally competitive we must adopt to this changes even its hard for our country to give budget on education. More time spent in studying means more knowledge, so adding two years is a good idea. In addition, 12 years of basic education is one of the international standards for quality education. However, I think our government doesn't have the capacity to provide such kind of quality. Why? Because financial assistance is insufficient. Public schools can't provide enough reading materials. Also, it is ironic how they want teachers to utilize multimedia materials when in fact they can't provide those. Everything when we work together, no matter how and difficult impossible, definitely a good outcome. I see the future of K-12 program. We need our government as the main propagator of this k-12 curriculum , will be sensitive to everything, allocate the necessary funds for instructional materials, these buildings to construct and other necessary facilities. The teachers must be faithful to their oath, be an ideal being a good teacher to the students. Parents may be open minded and see the beauty and importance of this program for the future not only their children but as well as the future of the country. And above all, the students. They would be seriously study and do not ignore the goodwill of K-12 that is completely designed for the improvement of the quality education they

    1st is the unpreparedness of the country especially during the implementation. Inadequate reading materials, books, modules, technology, things to use for vocational courses, classrooms and more, recently I observed some students studying far away from the city who wants to finish their studies but their barrio cannot offer k-12 to they need to go to the city, invest money just to study; rapid unexpected change that shocked many, this is just one weak point of the k12 implementation.     REACTION PAPER It is said that effective teacher will use both assessment and evaluation regularly to improve student learning and to guide instruction. Indeed, both have pivotal roles in the teaching-learning process yet, somehow they do differ in many ways. Assessment and evaluation measure whether or not learning and/or learning objectives are being met. One could look at assessment and evaluation as the journey (assessment) versus the snapshot (evaluation). (Sue Watson, 2009) Assessment requires the gathering of evidence of student performance over a period of time to measure learning and understanding. Evidence of learning could take the form of dialogue, journals, written work, portfolios, and tests along with many other learning tasks. Evaluation on the other hand occurs when a mark is assigned after the completion of a task, test, quiz, lesson or learning activity. Assessment would be a review of journal entries, written work, presentation, research papers, essays, story writing, tests, exams etc. and will demonstrate a sense of more permanent learning and clearer picture of a student's ability. The overall goal of assessment is to improve student learning. Assessment provides students, parents/guardians, and teachers with valid information concerning student progress and their attainment of the expected curriculum. Assessment should always be viewed as information to improve student achievement. Effective assessment is a continuous process. It's not simply something that's done at the conclusion of a unit of study or at the end of a lesson.
