What value systems are being portrayed and compared in this film? “Education Should Inspire and Not Despair “ Current education system is developing pressures on student’s head to the extent that some students end up by quitting. Basically, this movie covers the pressure that the students of higher education are facing because of high end expectation from their parents, colleges and faculties. One of the important issues covered in this movie is student's suicide due to pressure and failure in fulfilling the expectations. As such kind of incidents are not good for the society, country and families.
Knowledge can’t be imparted at the cost of life. It is time for educational institutions to wake up and develop such methods of imparting education which creates curiosity and inspire the students to develop their talent and reach new heights. We are aware that some institutions are doing this but there are also other institutions that make education a living hell to many students. Instead of creating a learning environment they apt to generate an environment full of pressure, building wrong impressions from the students. That’s why we sometimes think school is punishment, matter of factly. It is time for our educators also to wake up, as some of them transform the most interesting subjects into painful experiences. Parents sometimes also ruin the childhood of their kids by trying to achieve their personal dreams through their children. To achieve this, they coerce them which further move them towards insurgence.
In this race, everybody in the system misses or skips the importance of knowledge and its practical usability in life and work. The essence of this movie is that instead of running behind degree and marks, we should focus on getting knowledge and developing skills through knowledge. This will develop excellence in students and make them eligible to do their work more effectively and efficiently. Which of the 3 character in the film can you

Education is a right that every child is intittled to under the UNCRC. The opportunities education provides are ways a child or young person can see will help them to achieve success and prosperity in their lives. Enabling solutions to be seen for when problems arise. Parent’s education and their feelings towards education impact on how a child may see the educational system. This cultural factor affects the child’s attitude to learning in particular settings, how they undertake homework and handle expectations a school environment may place on them. Families may not mean to pass their views onto a child such as expectations or even negative views on how a school may be wrong or a waste of time but when a child is brought up around these situations…

Visualize a student who is given the opportunity to attend school. The journey towards receiving a diploma is a long process of development, essays, homeworks, projects, and it requires a consistent attendance. It is a task that entails commitment and determination, just like Brenda Almond’s, the author of Exploring Philosophy, description of philosopher’s commitment to truth and virtue (Philosophy: Q&T, p.5). But amidst all the difficulties, knowledge is liberating. One can feel his hands being slowly released from the chains which disabled the person to be free. However, the lessons being studied may lead to more questions rather than enlightening. With all the distractions at home or from friends, education for a student can be difficult and it may lead to confidence deprivation. Imagine yourself troubled finishing an essay for school and one day you see youths smoking pot outside the mall. It is a large crowd and everybody is laughing at someone’s lame joke. Would you trade your education for their innocence and shallow pleasure? As Voltaire describes in the story of The Good Brahman, ignorance may be bliss but no person would want to be part of such happiness (Philosophy: Q&T, p.27). Therefore, as a student who is granted with free education, you might as well do your best to be knowledgeable and you shall be one step closer to reality.…

Most Youths have a different perspective than adults do about schooling. Most adults view schooling as an opportunity to become what you want in the career world. Visa-versa, the view students share towards schooling is that schooling is boring and a waste of time; some may even call it imprisonment. Adults tend to blame students for student’s lack of interest which discourages students and make schooling more boring and feel like more of a waste of time for themselves. The fact that adults have different views than students do on education shows us that we are teaching our kids that education isn’t important. Therefore, we need to address this issue by teaching our kids to value education.…

The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet – Aristotle. Education is the wise, hopeful and respectful development of learning undertaken in the belief that everyone should have the chance to share in life. When you think of education, you think of places like schools or colleges that teach and tutor students in order to prepare them for the future. We notice that education is a concept almost everyone would agree is a universal good, also one that is plagued by seemingly endless controversy because education is said to be a powerful opportunity that you can either build from, or destroy all at once, it’s your choice. Education is built upon years of hard work, surpassing the all difficulties along the way. When in doubt you…

There are many negative influences on students today that the quote “Knowledge is the key to success.” has lost its power. The lack of success of our current youth is not directly related to a failure of the educational systems priorities but instead the society around it. A school fails to accomplish its goals when the students in the school lose the desire to succeed academically.…

3 Idiots is a movie that highlights different aspects of life. Education and it’s flawed system, strict parents who never ask what their kids want, dealing with relationships, and surviving life with friends. What I like most about this movie is how it tackles a very serious issue/matter in society and still keeps it light. I talk about the flawed education system where students are taught that in life if you’re not first, you don’t matter. And that grades are all that matter and learning is only secondary. In writing this paper I cannot help but relate the movie in real life situations. I think the movie successfully relates to its audience especially, I think, to those who are crossing the path between graduating from school and entering the real world. Many graduating students can relate to the anxieties that Farhan and Raju experience as engineering students; the fear of not having a decent job to sustain and help their respective families. I think this resonates especially to us students here in the Philippines where getting good grades means getting a good job. But our protagonist Rancho thinks otherwise. And it can be seen in the ICE or Imperial College of Engineering in the movie. The dreaded principal “Virus” and his iron hand rule over the place, puts great pressure on his students. And we see how Rancho is openly going against this issue that has been there ever since. We all live by the saying of the Great Holy Guru Ranchoddas Chanchad; do not chase success! Follow excellence and success will follow you with its pants down which as we see as the movie progressed, is quite true for Rancho. In contrast to his two buddies, Rancho loved learning about engineering, he studied because he wanted to learn, study and discover; an attitude many students don’t possess. He believed that blindly cramming and memorizing terms would lead students nowhere and that they should understand what these concepts are. A couple of examples are the class where Rancho…

Farhan Qureshi (R. Farhan is studying engineering to pursue his father's wishes, over his own passion for wildlife photography. Raju is studying to get his family out of poverty. On the other hand, Ranchho studies for his simple passion in machines. Rancho believes that one should follow excellence, not success, as success will take care of itself if excellence is followed.…

Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Rancchoddas "Rancho" Shyamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan) are students at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. They are room-mates in the college's hostel. While Farhan and Raju are average students from modest backgrounds, Rancho is from a rich family. Farhan wants to become a wildlife photographer, but is pursuing an engineering degree to fulfil his father's wish. Raju, on the other hand, needs to improve his family's financial situation. Rancho is a wealthy genius who studies for the sheer joy of it. His passion is for knowledge and taking apart and building machines rather than the conventional obsession of the other students with exam ranks. With his different approach Rancho incurs the wrath of college's dean, Professor Viru Sahastrabudhhe aka ViruS (Boman Irani). Rancho irritates his lecturers by giving creative and unorthodox answers, and confronts ViruS after fellow student Joy Lobo hangs himself in his dormitory room. Rancho denounces the rat race, dog-eat-dog, mindless rote learning mentality of the institution, blaming it for Lobo's death.…

The College and the hostel scenes were filmed at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, although the fictional "Imperical College of Engineering" depicted in the movie is situated in the city of Delhi. The ragging scenes were shot in the girl's dormitory and the resident girls saw the whole scene (not shown). The actors admitted feeling uncomfortable while getting undressed to their underwear in front of them and getting their buttocks stamped. Aamir Khan's character Rancho says in the movie that people study engineering, then management, and then become bankers, so what is the whole point of studying engineering. This is exactly what Chetan Bhagat (the author of 'Five point someone', the book from which the movie has been adapted) did. He studied engineering from IIT, management from IIM, and became a banker. If it was not for his passion, his love is a dead leaf, drifting away in his mindless creativity of dullness.
