Long ago, a princess named Rapunzel was born with a magical golden hair that contains a healing power. One night, Rapunzel was abducted by Mother Gothel, a witch who desires to use her ability to retain her youth. Mother Gothel held Rapunzel in captivity for years and raised her as her own child. Imprisoned and lonely, Rapunzel wishes to see the outside world but was never granted permission. Meanwhile, a thief named Eugene stumbles upon the tower Rapunzel was locked into while running away from guards. Learning the truth about her identity, Rapunzel tries to leave Mother Gothel but only to be chained by her. Eugene attempts to rescue Rapunzel but was stabbed by Mother Gothel.
