Many would say I am absolutely insane, but I am a rare individual who unforntuanately did not listen to the Beatles growing up. After watching A Hard Day's Night, I instantly fell in awe and definiely understand how one would have Bealtmania. The charm, humor, and shaggy hair cuts instantly drew me in. I felt as if I were a British teenage girl living in the 1960s and wildy chasing my beloved boyband crush. The movie is full of Rock n' Roll musical outbreaks, innocent fun, and a very clean and nice old man. A Hard Day's Night seems to mimic and portray as a documentary but instead is wonderful comedy that displays what a typical day would be like for the Fab Four.…

2002 documentary ‘Bowling for Columbine’ presents strong messages concerning the low gun control and the high murder rate in “the land of the free”. Directed by Michael Moore, the documentary shows the follies of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the US government, often in a satirical fashion. This use of humour and other techniques allowed Moore to win many awards for the documentary, including the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature 2003, but the largest victory ‘Bowling for Columbine’ had was the awareness regarding gun laws it created during its time as the highest grossing documentary (N.A, IMDB, N.D). The recent Orlando shootings renewed the debate regarding the heavily criticised Second Amendment to the American Constitution,…

Thinking, have you ever turned blind eyes to many of the world's problems? Imagine this, while you are standing in front of a hotel you notice two men with a child. The child looks gloomy and abused, they seem to be glancing around in hopes of something special to happen, but you can’t put a finger on the thought since it didn’t concern you. With the quick exchange of money, a deal was done and the child follows their new trafficker, that’s when you’ll probably notice human trafficking. Human trafficking is a huge problem that some of us don’t notice at first, and we don’t make much of an effort to stop it. It’s everywhere, and we can try to make a difference. If we can find ways to prevent human trafficking and help…

The destruction of the grand style of the epic is just what Pope was after in his mock epic, 'The Rape of the Lock.' Pope had no such universal goal, or moral pronouncements to make as did Milton. His purpose was merely to expose the life of the nobility of his time. While Milton chose blank verse to express the immensity of the landscape of his epic, Pope chose to utilize the heroic couplet to trivialize this grandeur. Pope's quick wit bounces the reader along his detailed description of his parlor-room epic. His content is purposefully trivial, his scope purposefully thin, his style purposefully light-hearted, and therefore his choice of form purposefully geared toward the smooth, natural rhythm of the heroic couplet. The caesura, the end-stopped lines, and the perfect rhymes lend the exact amount of manners and gaiety to his work.…

What can teenagers learn from the effects of rape? The victim and the rapist? What had caused the offender to take serious actions? These questions are very serious and in some cases are unanswered questions. Why? Is the first and common question we ask the offender for the actions they have taken? New Zealanders’ react the same way every other nation react to a serious situation if they were to face a person who was assaulted. We should all learn that there is more beneath the mask; meaning no matter what or how a victim shows their emotions there is always more to what they are truly showing.…
