Rape in Zambia

Rape is an egregious act which indelibly and psychologically scars the victim through violent intrusion into a person’s privacy of her body. Perhaps, next to murder the crime of rape is the most feared crime but unfortunately faced by especially young women, girls and even children in Zambia. Womens' upbringing cause them to supress marital and date rape because fear of condemnation and traditional beliefs are a major cause of why marital and date rape go unreported and unpunished.
Most of us are enlightened about the benefits of good respectable sex among married couples as we are products of the same. However, many others might not be aware that this act which is a source of life can as well be abused in form of rape. Therefore, the principal aim of this essay is to discuss how date and marital as some forms of rape are most loathed, misunderstood and feared crimes in some quarters of the world. It will focus its findings to the prevailing situation among Zambians of Central Africa. Conclusively, the essay will show what these vices are and their effects. To start with, it will be imperative to define some terms which will be met in this essay. According to section 132 of the penal code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia(2012) any individual who has unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl or woman, without her permission , or with her permission, if the concent is acquired by force or by means of intimidation or threats of any kind, or by terror of bodily trauma, or by medium of flawed representations as to the nature of the act, or, in the case of a married woman, by pretending to be her husband, is guilty of the offence termed "rape".Date Rape which is also known as acquitance rape is when forced sex occurs between two people who already know each other. it falls under a kind of rape which is done by emotional, mental force or sedation. Emotional and mental force has to do with feelings of a person especially sexual ones. The perpetrator will know that
