Rap music started off becoming a hit in the early 1970’s by artists experimenting on new urban styled beats and rhythms, like, Melle Mel, DJ Hollywood, and LL Cool J. Rapping is often associated with the primary focus in hip-hop. It has even been found in alternative rock. All rap is brought together with a specific style of flow and how the artists put together their rhymes to create the right rhythm. Today rap is a big hit in the music industry with having all different styles and artists from all over which shows how it has expanded into a lot more than what it used to be in the 70’s. Now we have artists that rap with a story behind their music that shows who they are and what they have lived through, like, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Kodak Black. …show more content…
Kodak’s real name is Dieuson Octave, born on June 11, 1997 in Pompano Beach, Florida. His parents were immigrants from Haiti. He was raised by his mother down in Florida. Since he was six years old he used the nickname “Black” and “Lil Black”. Right when he signed up for the app Instagram, he made his username “Kodak Black” which is now his stage name that has stuck since the beginning of his rap career and the name his fans called him. His first time getting into rap was back in 2009, at age 13, where he joined the rap group “Brutal Yungenz”. Then four years later he dropped his first mixtape Project
