Nadia Comaneci, the first gymnast who achieved perfection Nadia Comaneci, a Romanian gymnast, was born on November 12, 1961 in Onesti, a factory town in the mountains of Romania.She was the first gymnast ever to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event. But this is only one of her many unique achievements. Nadia Comaneci was the first Romanian gymnast to win the all-around title at the Olympics. She also holds the record as the youngest Olympic gymnastics all-around champion ever. Throughout her career, she won 16 gold medals in international competitions, including the Olympics. She also holds the record as the youngest Olympic gymnastics all-around champion ever.
