Random Narrative Essay
Every once and awhile I'll look back on my life and I'll laugh. Particularly at the times I spent with my friend Ben and all the mischief we caused; even when some of the things we did weren’t the safest or smartest things to do. The adventures and trouble we would get in. I remember the day we went to the lake, and how it ended almost horribly wrong. In the morning of this beautiful cloudless summer morning, I never thought I would come so close to such a near-death experience. The drone of my phone on my desk was loud enough to wake me up and get me to jump out of bed to read the message my friend Ben sent me. “Let’s go to the lake I’ll pick you up at 11.” I run to my clock to see the time to realize I only have 15 minutes to get ready. I throw on some swim shorts and grab something to eat as I hear the honking of my friend’s semi-new looking car that his dad recently bought him. “Let’s go!” he yelled. I jump into the passenger seat, to see my friend ben, a lanky, pale, blond haired boy. Surprised he could even fit in the car; we start driving toward the lake, and notice the buildup of traffic. “I know a short cut we can take” as he turned into gravel logging road. “Let’s see what this baby can do!” I didn’t know much about bens driving skills but what I did know was that he loved to go drifting. As he cranked the E-Brake we turned the corner, rocks hitting the car like a machine gun at a war. We came toward a bridge as he pulls the steering wheel straight nearly hitting the concrete blocks on the side of the road. “That was close he yelled” frightened for my life, I tighten my seatbelt preparing myself for a collision. “One more time!” he yelled as we were tossed back and forth inside the car. There was a river ahead we didn’t notices, due to the large amount of bushes and ferns growing around. As we hurtled towards this unknown pit of death the car begins to spin out of control, dust covering the air and making it impossible to see, ben steps on the break

One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move into your “American Dream.”…

I snap back to reality and notice that my speedometer read 30 mph. I was in a 20 mph zone. I slam on the brakes to slow down. Behind me, a driver lays on his horn to tell me how irresponsible my last decision was. I reach for the radio and turn the tuner dial until I find something upbeat and groovy. As I remove my hand, I begin to hit on the steering wheel like a drum. The steering wheel is black and coverless. It sounds good when I hit it. It is also keeping me awake at the moment. My step mom sat next to me in the passenger’s seat messing around with her phone. She never pays attention to me when I’m driving. I see a curb on the next right turn I have to take. After running over the curb, my step mom glances up to make sure I did not hit anyone. When realizing that everything is fine, she goes back to Facebook on her phone. The darkness of night was exhausting. My eyes fluttered in the beams of the yellow street lights. In a couple of blocks, I make another right turn. Then a left turn into my driveway. I turn off the engine and let out a sigh of relief. I reach for my door handle and pull, eager to go to my bed. My legs wobble underneath me as I stumble out of the truck. I am finally…

The cracked shards crunched beneath my feet, the blood dripped from my hair onto my awestruck face. This is all seemed so real, so completely real. I walked around the cars, examining the wreckage, my sight vibrating from the pure adrenaline rush. Here it was, Every 15 Minutes, and I was the drunk driver. Beer cans scattered around the pavement; every step I took felt like an eternity, a lurch through some kind of dark matter. I kept thinking “this didn’t actually happen, this didn’t actually happen,” but, the experience was all too real. I had killed someone. Metaphorically, of course, she’s fine. I took a seat in my car, and mixed the soon-to-be puke, a concoction of granola bar and water in my mouth.…

There are so many ways to go to college and get a degree; I could have gone to an online school, a 4 year university, a community college or even a mixture of all. There can be major physical changes and effects to a female’s body after having a child. In 2011 when I had my son the hospital gave me an epidural for the pain; they did the shot too high up on my back. As far as anyone knew I was fine. I showed no signs of problems until after I got out of the hospital, when I started having back spasms due to the fact that the epidural was done incorrectly. The female body goes through many natural changes; it prepares itself to be capable of having a child naturally and being capable of breastfeeding babies. It can also cause other effects that are not necessarily normal changes to the female body, for me the two main changes that I had were being anemic and having a hyperthyroid. The doctors told me that I was anemic because I had lost too much blood during labor and that the hyperthyroid was a result of my body changing after having my son but that it was nothing to worry about.…

At least I thought, I was going to survive until one Saturday afternoon when I was wheeling my chair across an alley. Speeding through the alley way came a huge pickup truck, I started screaming! I couldn’t get out of the way fast enough. Other people began shouting, waving their hands, to catch the driver’s attention. The driver slams on his brakes, stopping within inches of me.…

People underestimate the competitiveness and risks that go along with cheerleading. Some also do not consider it a sport, which is an unfortunate opinion. I took a tremendous risk when I decided to join the cheerleading team in seventh grade, although I had neither prior experience in cheerleading nor any sport for that matter. Being lanky and uncoordinated for most of my elementary years caused me to avoid any type of sports for the fear of embarrassment and failure. However, cheerleading appealed to me, because I admired the girls' and guys' bravery when it came to the challenging skills and routines.…

My life changing decision wasn’t exactly a decision I made for myself. In 2011 I walked into Wal-Mart with a friend and left with a police officer behind me leading me to his car in cuffs. That day was the first day of the rest of my life. I was on my way to the Illinois Department of Corrections, better known as prison. I’ve never felt so close to death since that night. It was the longest seconds of my driving experience. This short story occurred in my homeland, Kozu island near Tokyo, Japan, where I have spent most of the time of my life. This is a very beautiful and splendid island. What I like about the island is that there are many narrow and winding roads that crazy drivers would love to drive on; I was the one of the crazy drivers on the island. I was driving a car in the middle of the night, and my friend’s car was following me behind my car. It was just before our favorite place of my island.…

One night, I planned to visit my friend who lived on Venice beach. His place was about 15 minutes drive from my apartment. It was around 9 P.M. and there weren’t so many cars on the street. Since there was only me and the other car I front of me. I decided to drive faster without knowing what was going to happen. Suddenly, the car turned around at the front of my car. I didn’t know what was on the driver’s mind. It was happening so fast that I almost stop breathing at the moment. I hit the car very hard until the security air bag exploded to safe me from hitting the steering wheel. When I had recalled my consciousness, I thought to myself “I had to get out of here before it explodes!” Then, I…
