Random Act Of Kindness Research Paper
During our last class session, while I was watching the video on random acts of kindness, it reminded me that performing random acts of kindness, is something that I need to incorporate more into my life on a regular basis. I actually had a warm and fuzzy feeling inside knowing that many people have done so many kind things to me. I too have done many kind things to others; but, I had still not decided to incorporate this small thing into my life. I immediately realized that life is about being a blessing to others; however, there are times when people need to see tangible things done for them. When we give things that are tangible, it is one way to help others see Christ in us. I found out that there are many ways to show random acts of kindness. I had the opportunity to put this concept into action in several ways since our last class. …show more content…
First, I went to visit a friend and here family from Alabama in Marco Island over the weekend. I took a watermelon with me and gave the watermelon to her family while I was visiting for Memorial Day weekend. When I walked in the house with the watermelon, I noticed that they had a watermelon that they purchased sitting on the floor. It was clear that they were saving it for the actual Memorial Day cookout, which was still a few days away. The watermelon that I gave them, allowed them to cut the watermelon right then, and allow everyone to have a treat before the actual Memorial Day event was even there. I noticed that the children were excited to eat watermelon at that very moment. I could see their eyes light up, as the watermelon juice was everywhere. Imagine that, they did not have to suppress their desire to have something they really wanted. It was a great experience to see someone have more than they

I am an active member of a service organization called Key Club. One day during Key Club week is Random Acts of Kindness Day. My goal was to start implementing this in my everyday life. On a daily basis, we can be selfish to the needs of others without even realizing it. Everything was put in perspective for me when one afternoon I stopped by the Dollar Tree to pick up some supplies. It was the cashiers birthday and she was turning 74. We wished her a happy birthday and she explained how her family had not planned anything for her birthday. After we left we decided that we should go ask her if she would like to go out to eat and we’d sing her happy birthday. She said she couldn’t because her husband would be waiting for her. So we sang for…

Countless people are familiar with the term Samaritan, but the amount of people who comprehend the actual meaning of the word is scarce. The term ‘Good Samaritan’ derives from a parable told by Jesus Christ and is mentioned in the bible. In the story, the ‘Good Samaritan’ witnesses a “half dead man”, so he “[takes] pity on him”, and offers him bandages along with shelter (Luke 10:30-35). This parable is evidence that assisting strangers is existent from the beginning of human history, excluding the minority who choose not to aid a soul in need. In order to prevent this from happening, force must be used to help the victims of injury. The United States of America…

Since the 1920s, pop culture became an important factor in many North American’s lives. As a mennonite girl living in East Village, Nomi is affected greatly by the media during her time, the 1980s, because its what shaped her ideals. Giving (verb): to freely transfer the possession of (something) to (someone); hand over to. When one gives to someone or does something special for someone, it is a win-win situation. In fact, the feeling of happiness is always mutual in those cases. No matter how big, small, concrete, or abstract the act of kindness is, it will go a long way nevertheless. The winter season - that is, the season for giving - is approaching, and it is a great time to “kick off” the amiable gestures for family and friends now. For me, personally, I would like to help cook a tasty dessert for my family to marvel over.…

My favorite scripture that best describes giving to others is Luke 6:38 and it states: “ give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” (6:38, "Bible Gateway passage: Luke 6:38 - New International Version")As Christians we should always be there to help give and support others in their time of need as we may never know if whether or not we will be in a circumstance where we are in the other individual’s…

A civil rights activist named Martin Luther King Jr. once declared “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.” King contemplates the issue of those who choose to condone the evil and injustice they see in the world, stating that those who grow complacent with the evil are comparable to those who cause the evil themselves. He condemns those who stand passively as others are mistreated or taken advantage of. In the same vein, an Irish salesman by the name of Edmund Burke proclaimed “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”…

After learning about the story of Josiah DuBois and the lives that he saved, it has allowed me to reflect on how the actions I have taken that has caused an impact on those around me. Taking a concern for the lives of those around him, Josiah DuBois, has created a ripple of good deeds that carry on into generation after generation. Looking at my community and the problem that we face, I decided to take it into my own hands and work together to make those lives around me a little bit better. No matter what the project is, working together to overcome hardships and lift each other up is “just what a human being should do.”…

Aesop, an ancient Greek storyteller, once said, ”No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Small acts of kindness can have huge impacts on others. First, small acts of kindness might cause the domino effect. Second, acts of kindness can make people’s day. Finally, doing small acts of kindness makes you a good role model for younger people. As a result, a small act of kindness can make a positive impact on another person’s life.…

Before, I was all about myself, I knew what I needed and knew what to do to get what I needed. But since I have had this experience I have decided that giving is the life for me. I now see that I am not the only person in the world that has needs, and I am also not the only person in the world who struggles to meet said needs. And I believe that if I lead the rest of my life giving, I could inspire someone else to give, too. Luther was all it took to start the peasant revolt. That alone is enough proof that if one mind changes, several will follow after it. If we all become giving citizens maybe we can all find our inner…

As previously stated I work for a private school that provides housing and education for children that come from poverty. Leviticus 25:35 says, “If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you.” (NIV). While this verse specifically refers to Israelites, I believe this applies to our everyday lives and is the attitude I express every day. By interacting and supporting these children on a daily basis I feel as though I am playing positive role in their lives. Not only by the school providing them with the opportunity, but by approaching interactions with them in an image of God teaches them a lesson that will give them tools to live a productive life. Proverbs 22:6 further supports this notion, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (NIV). Showing respect and manners when interacting with children can provide them with invaluable tools as they progress through their lives. It would be irresponsible to interact with these children any other way. By conversing with them in a way that sets a positive example I feel as though I am lifting their spirits in…

As we stop by the meals on wheels headquarters we first sign in and then pick up a cooler full of cold food and a warm lunch bag to put the hot meals in. We then drive over to St. Jude hospital where we pick up the hot food that has the patients names labeled on them. From here we drive to each patients house or apartment complex and drop off their assigned foods, which is one cold food meal pack, one milk, and a hot meal pack. Some places are so easy as getting off and dropping it off in the ice box they have set in front of their house or apartment complex while other patients we have to ring the door bell and hand it to them. Some days we will talk to some of these patients. For instance, at one of the first stops an older lady would come outside as we drop the food off and explain to me as she’s very sick and doesn’t feel well. Then go to explain how we walk with Jesus because we are doing this for her and how we are very blessed for doing it. It goes to show me how lucky I am for being young and healthy at the age I am and not take life for granted. Another instance would be an elderly guy who sits outside with his dog everyday before we pull up to drop his food off. He always seems to be in a very good mood and explains to me how I should be at the beach and not here doing this service. It shows the different kinds of people that are out there and there perspective towards things. Most of the people have their kids or husbands answer the door for them to get their food. At the end of the day we have delivered the food to twelve different people…
