Ramara Character Analysis
Valmiki, a sage, gave a long list of virtuous qualities to Narada, the wanderer, that he felt made the perfect man; fulling believing he was describing a figure of his imagination. What Valmiki didn’t know was that there was a perfect man named Rama and he would be the mortal that destroyed Ravana. (Page 4) Because no immortal man could kill Ravana and end his tyranny, Rama was necessary to destroy Ravana once and for all. (page 10) Even though Rama is the one who was made to destroy Ravana, they share a lot of characteristics, as they are both good leaders, but I think their most defining features are what sets them apart.
Because Rama was considered the perfect man and was the reincarnation of Vishnu (page 10), he had a lot of redeeming qualities. One the virtues Rama had was the ability to be merciful and I believe this is something he stood by well. He had the ability to defeat Ravana earlier than their final battle, but instead of finishing the fight while Ravana cowered in fear, Rama let Ravana recover. I suppose his mercy could be taken in a sarcastic way, but I think he genuinely wanted to be respectful and let the Rakshasas recover. (419) He also showed strong integrity during his fight with Vali. When he got his first opportunity to kill Vali, he

He was an evil being and the antagonist, but he had good qualities about him. Ravana was a great leader of his being if you look past the fact he led a million (465) to their death because he was unwilling to relinquish Sita. He was “an awesome monarch” and he was able to “sense all that happened throughout his empire” because of his ten heads (184). He was also a strong defender of his family. His reasoning behind taking Sita was because of his selfish needs, yet he was upset when he found out what happened to his cousins and sister (184). He was also sad when he heard the news that his sons died in battle (440)

Quince never had much, growing up in a financially unstable family. The family’s earnings came from his father’s carpentry business where Quince developed the skills of his father’s. His father’s strict and tough demeanor enforced Quince’s leadership and managerial qualities. However, growing up, he took responsibility of taking care of his ill mother and younger brother. As a child, he was feeble and naïve and was often picked on by the kids of the slum for his unattractive appearance and unusual bowl cut hairstyle. During his teenage years, his mother passed away and his younger brother went missing on Midsummer Day. The unknown disappearance of Quince’s only sibling worried him. Had he “gained the powers of a bard” (Midsummer Eve)? Or had he been “spirited away by the fairies” (Midsummer Eve)?…

Marie-Laure had always been curious and questioned what ordinary people did. “‘Why not,’ she asks, ‘just take the diamond and throw it into the sea?’” (pg. 23). When she went blind however, even small tasks seemed daunting, and her father had to help her regain her courage. The Nazi’s invasion of France forces her to use that courage and not lose her mind in a seemingly difficult situation. “‘You did well, Marie-Laure. I’m proud.’” (pg. 117) says her father as they evacuate the city. Upon reaching Etienne’s house, Marie-Laure and her father settle down before her father is summoned back to the museum. However, he gets arrested along the way and sent to a German prison camp. Marie-Laure is fearful for her father despite his reassuring letters that he is alright. She becomes more secluded and isolates herself out of worry, “Only then, with her toes and fingers in the cold sea, does her mind seem to fully leave her father; only then does she stop wondering how much of his letter was true, when he’ll write again, why he has been imprisoned.”…

The novel follows two very different adolescents, Tal and Milla, as they experience together several hardships, travels, and experiences. In the beginning of this novel, Tal is conceited, dependant on others, and regards himself with superiority that does not extend to any who have what the Chosen regard as a “natural shadow.” . His inability to comprehend anything other than what he has been taught by his elders leads to conflict when he stumbles across Milla and her fellow Icecarls. Their differing views and customs cause him to regard the unfamiliar people as savages and almost sub-human. The author remarks that , "With Tal, I knew he was rather naive, and little committed to his family, and that he had more courage than he knew.” Throughout the…

In my opinion, Alexander the Great was a terrifying, barbaric villain who conquered many cities and changed many cultures so he could benefit by gaining more land, power and money. One reason I think he is a villain is the way he ruled people to obey him. For example after he conquered cities he sold 30,000 people into slavery and killed over 6,000 people to scare the people of Greece obey to him. He sold the slaves to the rich people so he can gain trust of the people.…

I was first introduced to the religion of Hinduism in 2008, when the movie “Slumdog Millionaire” came out. In one scene of the movie it shows Rama, the seventh avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu and a king of Ayodhya in Hindu scriptures. Rama is revered for his unending compassion, courage and devotion to religious values and duty. I wanted to know why they showed Rama in that scene and what importance he had in that scene. In that scene it shows a group of Hindu’s running across railroad tracks attacking another group of people. In a cut scene it shows Rama standing there and then goes back to the assault. The purpose of this was to show the viewers that the group attacking was Hindu’s and the group being attacked was not Hindu’s, we later find out that the people being attacked were Muslims.…

A true epic hero has many very defining characteristics. Usually you will find this hero to be the ‘alpha male. ' With an almost super hero personality, epic heroes are extremely above an average human being. This character must be of noble birth, and as a result, this gives them great respect and many resources. There is a deep reverence for the gods and this helps the hero through tough times. An epic hero is bravery than the other characters. They are willing to take bigger risks and reap greater rewards. Despite these strong traits, there is usually an element of deep suffering that the character must deal with through out his story. No matter what, however, the epic hero will always win out in the end in a good vs. evil type of battle.…

But I couldn’t.” (Grealy, Page 145) Man would constantly approach her because of her figure. Her face will make them openly make jokes and laugh at her. “I though I could use my body to distract people from my face.” (Grealy, Page 208) During her early years in school her peers did not seem to understand what Lucy was going through. They did not take the opportunity to know her for who she was. They just saw a girl with a disproportionate face. In college, she discovered the feeling of love towards others. “In sharp contrast to high school. I now possessed a large number of varied and decidedly wonderful friends, whom I valued immeasurably. Through them I discovered what it was to love people.” (Grealy, 195) In college she was accepted for who she was. Her face was not an impediment as it was during high school. The doctors who were involved in her case always gave her hope that her face will eventually become…
