Ramapo College Essay
I will be majoring in General Nursing at Ramapo College. I will not be double majoring or minoring since my program is already rigorous as it is. Professors do not recommend minoring due to the heavy workload nursing majors face. My intended major relates to my ultimate career goal of becoming a nurse. Ramapo college offers a variety of majors that relate to nursing such as respiratory therapy, gerontology, and physician assistant.
My main goal for my life after college is to receive a job offer from a renowned hospital. I believe that through the professional connections I will make at Ramapo College, I will gain admittance to a hospital like New York Presbyterian or Mount Sinai. Students can study domestically through the National Student Exchange program where students continue their Ramapo degree at another accredited institution (www.Ramapo.edu). The program offers over 180 universities throughout the United States. For my intended major, the college provides an international faculty led internship program to Ghana as well as a study abroad program to the University College of Dublin. Ramapo College has more than 500 individual study abroad programs in over 60 countries and 6 continents (www.Ramapo.edu). Since the school operates the study abroad programs, the school’s policy on credit transfers from study abroad is non-existent. The courses credits in an international institution are valued the same at Ramapo. The study abroad credit applies directly to my major requirements since it applies to credits necessary for graduation …show more content…

Two credits are rewarded with a position of 120 hours per semester, while a four credits are rewarded with a position of a minimum 240 hours per semester. Students may earn up to eight academic credits in their graduation requirements. Students travel to Australia, China, Japan, Germany, etc. where they work as social media coordinators, parliamentary interns, law firm interns, teacher assistants, etc. Some sample employers are CNBC, Bergen County Sheriff's Department, Walt Disney World, Nets Basketball, MTV, etc. The fieldwork program I could pursue on campus in order to bolster my resume for post collegiate life is clinical hours at Hackensack University Medical Center. Also, the possible internship I could pursue is with a Nursing professor in the spring of junior year. Ramapo offers the opportunity for thesis projects during their senior year.
